Soul Sister Ski Boot - Women's

Full Tilt has a huge following of serious skiers who demand comfort as much as performance, and its Women’s Soul Sister Ski Boot deftly achieves both of these goals. The Soul Sister isn't a toned-down, smaller, girlified version of a man-boot. It's more like the ass-whoopin', free-skiing, hard-charging, fully-committed ski pal you've always wanted.

  • Mid-stiff flex tongue transfers power smoothly without plaguing you with shin-bang
  • Anatomical cuff accommodates a woman's lower calf
  • Active bootboard rubber absorbs high-speed vibrations and the impact of stomping cliff jumps
  • Your body heat will activate the Pro Liner to thermo-mold around your foot for a customized fit
  • The same 7mm High Density foam you'll find in Full Tilt's top-performing mens' boots will insulate your foot and create a seamless interface between the foot and the boot shell
  • J-Bar ankle hold-down prevents your heel from shifting or wiggling as you charge
  • And, let's face it: Full Tilt's incredibly unique feminine looks are a real conversation-starter on the chair lift

Bottom Line: You'll understand: the Soul Sister wants to be respected because it charges hard, not just because it's pretty.

So I grew up doing ballet, and as a result I have wide-ish feet and an incredibly high instep.

I have read and heard so many positive reviews of Full Tilt boots so I gave them a shot for a combined full season.

NO NO NO NO NO. Not for me. While I liked them (in theory) the design is just not made for feet like mine. The boots crushed my arches, leaving massive bruises and numbness. They consistently made my feet cramp from the heel to under my arch. They pinched the balls of my feet so badly that when I would take off my boot my toes would be white, numb and FREEZING COLD to the touch. I didn't even ski with the lowest buckle fastened at all. I gave them a few months to break in before getting them heat molded, then gave them another few months. I still had to stop and take them off every few hours just to let my feet recover.

My other complaint is the construction of the buckle system. It's an awesome, easy system but it's built cheaply. The wire would slip under the buckle and I would literally have to go to the Deep Powder House and use their wire cutters to get my boot off. It happened a number of times and FT never responded to my queries. They sell replacement cables so they know this is an issue. Seriously? I have to get CUT OUT of my boot? No, thanks!

Great For Narrow Feet

By:
October 12, 2010

I will update this review once I ski in them. Update is below. I didn't change anything I originally wrote except for the rating.

Got these yesterday. Looked at them. Wondered "Will I get my feet in these?" Put my feet in them. Got them in EASILY. They are actually narrow enough for me! I haven't been able to find boots narrow enough and tall enough in height. I normally wear an 8 sneaker. I measure between 24.5-25. I ordered these in a size 23 because that is what happens to fit my feet since everyone's feet are different. The Salomon Poisons fit great lengthwise in a size 23, but are too short, heightwise in the shin. I really notice this when skiing. I guess my legs are built for a size 24. The Soul Sister fit great lengthwise AND Heightwise in the shin.

The liner is amazing. I love High Density foam. I will heat mold these before skiing. I want to get my heel in there better and my toes a little more comfy. They feel a little short in the toe at first, but not when I bend my knees forward. They have a good shell fit, I would say between race fit and comfort fit (in my poisons I had less room than a race fit and they were fine in length). The liner is thicker than most boots I have used, especially in the heel/ankle area. I like this because it uses 7mm of high density Intuition foam, which is the difference between the Pro and Performer liner. The Performer liner in the boots with the influence shell use 7mm of medium density foam instead.
I would recommend this boot to women with narrow to medium width feet, but not quite wide feet. Wide footed women might have to go with the Mary Jane. They might fit wide feet after heat molding. They will probably feet too tight to a medium width foot before heat molding, but after heat molding they should be fine. Note to medium width footed women: They will feel too tight at first, but heat mold and they will be the best boot ever. With and intuition liner, anything is possible.

UPDATE:
ow, ow ow ow. ow. ow ow. ow.
pain. pain pain. like bread in french. le pain.
i cant ski in these, too much pain. my whole feet. without my alines, the sides dig in to my ankles. with them, the part of my feet that arent my ankles are in pain. they feel weird. i didnt have them too tight or too loose and i did heat mold them and still pain pain pain.
i did a total of about six runs in this boot on three different days on three different skis. i dont feel my foot moving in side but it feels like it is moving in a way. it doesnt hold my heels well.

this boot is probably great for people without foot problems, or if their only problem is shin bang. i have never experienced shin bang. it must be for people who have shinbang in even the best fitting 4 buckle boot. so many people love this boot but i guess it isn't for me and my racing style.

This isn't a race boot! This is a favorite for narrow-medium width low volume feet. The cuff (the rigid part!) is relatively low. Ramp angle is relatively low. It's a real favorite among freestylers. When heat molding, you must make sure to pad any potential hot spots. Boot fitters love this boot because it is easy to modify -- you can take the whole thing apart with very little effort and many parts are interchangeable.

Full Tilt Soul Sister

By:

So far these boots have been excellent! If you are tired of your feet freezing and feeling like your skiing on stubs give the soul sister a try. I have a narrow heel and foot and haven't had any issues with my foot not feeling solid in the boot, plus my toes are warm and I can feel them! :)
As far as flex and performance they are excellent lots of lateral stability with a nice forward flex. The liner in the boot are a heat molded and by far no other brand of boot I have tried even comes close to comparing. I usually wear a size 8(25.0) in a runner but went with the size 7(24.0). I have had zero pain in these boots however the store spent 1hr custom fitting them. They recommended I ski about 10 times with them and they will pack out a bit, then come in and get a foot bed(ie super feet, sole etc...) heat molded in.
