34 Float 27.5 160 CTD FIT Limited Edition Fork - 2015

27.5-inch wheels and 160mm of fork travel—it’s a recipe for total trail domination. This combination will take you through just about any kind of terrain there is. However, in Fox’s lightweight 43mm configuration, this fork won’t put the kibosh on your next merciless climb, either. That’s not to say this could double as an XC race fork, but it wouldn’t shut you down on a climb, either.

This version of the 34 sticks with the FIT damper. Unlike a traditional open bath damper, the FIT damper fluid is sealed inside an air-tight bladder. This prevents contamination, which improves the fork’s consistency on long descents. Those familiar with Fox forks will also recognize the CTD (Climb, Trail, Descend) system, which allows you to adjust for terrain on the fly. One improvement has been made to this system—the Trail setting now has seven sub-settings, instead of just three. This means you can really fine-tune your fork’s feel in Trail, its most commonly used setting.

As mentioned earlier, the real biggest improvements this year are in friction reduction. The Kashima coating, which already reduced friction compared to standard fork coatings, has been further improved with smoother base anodizing. Fox also added a new, lower-friction lubricating oil for a dramatically smoother ride. You really can feel the difference.

The Weight of the Float 34 hasn’t changed much for this model. Stiffness is, of course, still fantastic, thanks to the huge tapered steerer tube, massive 34mm stanchions, and 15mm QR axle.
