32 Float 29 120 CTD FIT Fork - 2015 - OE

The 2015 FOX Racing Shox 32 FLOAT 29 120 FIT CTD Fork is a refined version of the long time trail rider's staple. It looks similar, but it's graced with a refined CTD adjustment scheme, and a new, lower-friction construction that add control to a fork that's long been a benchmark.

Like recent generations of Fox's Factory series forks, the FLOAT controls its stroke with the venerable FIT damper. The 'FIT' acronym stands for Fox Isolated Technology. And, unlike a traditional open bath system, FIT means that the damper fluid is sealed in an air-tight bladder. This prevents contamination, which improves the consistency of the damper on long descents.

Long-time Fox riders will immediately notice Fox's Climb, Trail, Descend damper adjustments. And while it's familiar, improvements have been made for the 2015 model year. The Trail setting now has seven sub-settings, as opposed to the previous three. That translates into more fine-tuning of your low-speed compression, to perfectly balance support and suppleness. As ever, Climb mode provides the most damping for a near locked-out feel, with a bit of cushion for any unexpected hard hits. And Descend mode provides the lightest compression damping for a plush ride.

The 32 FLOAT comes with refined Kashima coated stanchions, which offer reduced friction, and in turn better small-bump compliance, than the previous Kashima coat. Essentially, the gold outer layer remains the same; what has changed is the base anodizing, which results in an even smoother surface than before. This is in addition to a new, lower-friction lubricating oil, which adds to the dramatically smoother ride. In addition to the friction reducing benefits, Kashima coating is harder than standard stanchion coatings. This equates to a longer wear life, as well as more supple suspension action.

The trail-ready, race weight, 32 chassis remains nearly unchanged moving into the 2015 model year, although subtle refinements have shaved grams off of the lowers. It still has ample stiffness for most riders, thanks to the massive tapered steerer tube, and 15mm QR axle assembly.
