Fox Racing designed the Men’s Sergeant Bike Short with an aggressive DH/freeride style that includes a below-the-knee length and a whole slew of pockets. The adjustable waist provides a tailored fit, and a stretch-cotton fabric ensures you’re never held back when you rail singletrack or hit a gap jump. Fox Racing also included a removable chamois for more versatility and an MP3 pocket to help you keep tunes close at hand.

Good long shorts

These shorts are long and the chamois is nice and easily removable which is nice for washing and wearing without the chamois. Tons of pockets and the included lens cleaner is awesome. I would go with the black shorts if possible because the green shorts get wet and show it when you sweat and that can be a little embarrassing in the rear. The shorts feel nice because they are softer than other polyester shorts since they are made of cotton. I would definitely recommend these in the black color.

Nice shorts, but size is off IMO

I wear a size 32 waist in virtually every piece of clothing I have, including a pair of Fox Basic MTB shorts. I got the 32 in these shorts and I definitely have to wear a belt. They will literally fall down otherwise. If I pinch 2" off, it still feels looser than most size 32's I'm used to and I'd still be wearing a belt with these shorts. The waist adjusters on the hips are only velcro, not substantial enough to bring the waist in as much as I would need.

However, the included liner/chamois (which is a separate piece) is actually the perfect size for me. Going down a size would render that part of the shorts useless.

I've ridden and washed them several times and they haven't shrunk much if at all.

Material and finish are great. It is thin enough that it will never feel soggy or heavy. In fact I have ridden with them in an all-out downpour and they didn't bother me while sopping wet. The only issue is that sweat spots will show a lot more with the cotton than other fabrics. Length is, as they say, long. These are the longest pair of shorts I've ever owned, but it looks fine (I am 6'2") and extends to the bottom of my kneecap when sitting.

These shorts kick ass. True to size (I dont even need a belt and im a skinny dude!) Super comfy and have hella cool pockets. The two main pockets and mesh inside so dont spill stuff in there or your manhood may get wet. Perfect for DH or just being lazy. Or lazy-downhilling! Also the green is much darker than pictured. The moss green is more army or just dark green. Not lime green as shown (i like it though).

I usually wear shorts size 34, but I read someone recommends going a size down, how true is this? Because I prefer to wear a little bigger than using not comfortable, really tight shorts

I have two pair of 2008 Fox Sergent Shorts Sz 34 and they fit perfect for my 33" Waist. The adjustment on the side is pulled in all the way to make the waist fit, but I like them a little baggy and not tight. I am 5'11 and 185lbs, so you will have to judge. A size 34 should work if you don't pull in the adjustment ok. As far as how baggy, consider my size vs yours and select one up if you are heavier, or if you are about his weight and height go with 34. Hope this helps. I have worn these so... much they are my favorite. Thought about wearing them backpacking they are so great. I do Spin Class and ride trails in them. Hope this helps!

Where are my keys?

I just love pockets! And these shorts have pockets galore. The included glasses wipe is a nice touch, as well. The shorts are comfy, well fitting, and repel branches with alacrity. I'm going to wear them to work and see if they can repel office nuisances with similar aplomb. The only drawback, and this is most likely user error, is that one of the little loops that the liner attaches to the outer shell broke in the washing machine. I guess I was supposed to have removed the liner prior to washing, but lacking explicit instructions, I did not. Or, I could have misread/ignored said instructions. Either way, a simple fix of needle and thread saved the day.

My keys were buried in a pocket.

Great shorts, poor chamois

The shorts are awesome! Definitely cool looking and a nice length below the knee. The chamois though is kinda sad. I've never had a problem with a chamois bunching up but I do with the one that came with these shorts. I wear these with a Pearl Izumi chamois and they're perfect.

Muy Comfortablos

These are excellent shorts! Amongst my very favorite. Magnetic pockets are great & easy! Plus it's always funny when you're putting your bike up on the top rack and then your pocket flaps stick to your car. You're not fumbling with velcro or snaps if you're riding and want to get a gel packet out of your pocket or something. The fit is excellent. Fabric is light and a bit stretchy. Comes with an attached sunglasses/goggle wipe which is an awesome added touch. Liner is very comfortable and breathable, and the chamois I think is completely underated. I have Assos bib shorts and these keep the taint & inner cheeks just as happy if not happier.

The ONE thing keeping this from 5 stars instead of 4 is this:
The previous year's model had this kind of top button that kind of slid/locked into place. So if you've got a belly and kind of hunch over and expand, it won't come undone. This year they went back to a regular snap. Loved the special button they had from the year before and wish they didn't get rid of it. Other than that, everything about this year's model is an improvement.

These shorts have everything!

These are comfortable and functional. They have a pocket for everything I think. Cellphone, mp3 player, and whatever else you can think to put in them. These are a great quality and fit. True to size. I wear a 32 in all of my shorts and bought these in a 32. Would buy another pair in a different color. The liner that comes with is super comfortable to wear as well. These fox liners are some of my favorite.

Fav shorts

Out of all my Mtn biking shorts these are my favorites! They look sweet, are technically solid and i actually like the cotton shell. My shorts with nylon shells tend to feel "sticky" on my seat when they get wet, although these shorts stay wet forever they never feel that way. These shorts are cut perfect for me too, with an inseam that doesn't look high on the way to the trail but never catches the horn when i'm in and out of the saddle.

This Short Rules!

This short has a great fit and look! The liner/chamois is comfortable, plenty of pockets, and the sunglass/goggle wipe is really cool!

How fast do these dry? I'm assuming since these are cotton, they will take longer to dry than nylon bike shorts.
