Description

Ski like the world's about to end.

Do you have a mantra when you're mobbing down untracked powder and tossing a cork seven over a crevasse? Something like "Annihilate, annihilate, annihilate," maybe? If you do, then the Folsom Rapture Ski is your ride. This solid 122-millimeter-waisted freeride machine gets from top to bottom with tank-like stability and race-car speed and agility, with a 28m turn radius that lets you open things up and a rockered tip and tail to keep you bombing over uneven snow and floating in pow. The vertically laminated poplar and bamboo core is wrapped with a carbon-and-fiberglass laminate to stiffen things up without adding unnecessary ounces, and the low camber underfoot provides a powerful platform that won't get squirrely when you're hitting Mach 2.

Not that you'd EVER hit a rock, but Folsom made sure the Rapture can stand up to impacts, just because. The sintered 4001 base is as tough as it is fast, finished off with rugged UHMW sidewalls and sharp 2.5mm steel edges that have been hardened to 48 Rockwell, so you can use your skis to shave or slice up salami in a pinch. A sandwich construction keeps the whole package sealed tightly together, so you'll feel stable as table no matter how rowdy you're getting.

Powder Go-To

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this for pow days. It makes things so easy. New pow skis keep coming out and they are looking more and more like my 3yo Raptures. After about 80 days they still look great and ski like new.
Easy decision.

The World Will Shake Beneath You

Make sure you eat your Wheaties in the morning before riding these, the Rapture does not mess around. I took these boards on a blower day in Jackson on one of the worst hangovers of my life, and skied til the bell. The 192 cm was exactly what I look for in a powder ski - something that can slay steep lines and heavy drops, while playful enough to throw slashes for the camera. The ski allows you to feel in complete control, reacting nicely for such a big ski if you need to throw on the brakes or point it last minute through a pinch.

In addition to the Wheaties, I recommended having a cold case of PBR on ice for after a day on these - chances are you'll deserve it.

Heaven.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My Folsom Raptures have well over 300 days of shredding in them, and the things still look and ski like new. From 2' resort days to 7k backcountry adventures to extreme comps, I can't imagine a more perfect ski for the stuff I like to do. This shape kills--floaty, slarvy, and hugely stable in the pow, coupled with edge hold like you'd find on a ski with a third less girth. Stiff and poppy fore-to-aft, these boards offer a crazy sense of 'there-ness,' like I can keep the accelerator pegged cause I know that when I need to hit the brakes, I'll have all the control I could ask for. The carbon construction lends them a feel like I've never experienced with any other boards, yeah, they're damp, but the feeling's ever radder than that--Folsoms just have this sweetness that you can't get anywhere else. Add to that a durability that's just not available in any mass market ski (these guys' idea of sustainability is a ski that can shred every day for years and years without losing its pop, or its edges) and you've got a pair of boards that'll keep up for the long haul. Like a happy husky in the backcountry, these skis never wear out, and they always want more pow.

Heaven.

Send it. Stomp it. Slay it.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Raptures are a killer ski for deep snow. The super stable platform makes it easy to do everything from slashing high-speed turns to stomping cliffs. I used this skis to ski steep faces, pillow lines and tons of other terrain. I'm extremely hard on skis (6' 4", 230 lbs) and these things took all the abuse I could throw their way...and did it well.

Send it. Stomp it. Slay it.

If AC/DC made skis instead of music

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

What can I say about this ski? Its amazing, it is full on rock and roll and you feel like a superstar when your on it. The build quality is unmatched. from the core of the ski all the way to the base material, I have never skied a ski that compares.
I have spent many days on Benchetlers, Armada JJ's, Blizzard Gunsmokes, and Nordica Patrons, but I must say; this is my favorite.
The ski is light weight, but don't ever mistake that for unstable. This thing floats like a hummingbird, but rolls like a freight train when you need to make that turn now, not 20 feet from now. The camber underfoot combined with the early rise make this ski not only an amazing big mountain and powder ski, but also something that you can take out and shred on hard pack. I know because I have spent many days on this ski on hard pack.
Also, the beauty of this ski really comes down to the build quality. You can treat this thing like your the kinkiest girl you have always dreamed of, and just like her, they will beg for more. You never have to worry about de lamination, or anything else that is a tell tale sign of a mass produced "me too" ski.
These skis get you in the club, the club that says you care about what you ride, and that your serious about your passions.

I've used this ski from Jackson Hole to Bridger Bowl to Cook City. This is the best Charging Powder Ski I have ever ridden.
