Great coat!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I had been looking for a hard shell for a long time and finally stumbled upon this one. I LOVE it! I've only worn it a few times, but it has kept me very warm and dry! I'm 5'2, 110lb and bought the olive in a S. I generally buy an XS in most jackets though. There's definitely room to layer underneath, the brushed inside is very soft so it's comfortable even against bare skin. I love the sleeve extensions with thumb holes! The hood is huge, but will fit well over a helmet or just keep you nice and dry when it's really coming down! The sleeves are a little long but I like that 'cause then I can slide them over my gloves for skiing. The torso is also a bit on the longer side, but I like it because then it covers my butt. Overall, great jacket. I would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a new shell!

Nice Shell. Didn't keep it though

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

Nice shell. Jacket has wrist gators built into the sleeve. This is not written about in the description. I find the gators make it difficult to layer under the shell. If I a known about the gators I wouldn't have ordered the jacket. Ended up returning the jacket because of this. Also the zipper on the olive jacket is pink (fushia). It looks orange in the photo.

Nicely made shell, but boxy fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Height: 5' 9"
    Weight: 165 lbs
    Size Purchased: Medium

This is really a gorgeous shell, but the fit was really weird on me. I'm 5'9" and wear a 38C and a solid 10 pants with a belt usually. On me, the medium bulged around the waist but didn't sit where it was supposed to on my hips (even without adding ski pants). Would've sized up, but knew the waist would just get bigger, and the M shoulders and sleeves were perfect. Color was awesome (denim) and it just felt really high quality all around. If you have narrower hips, this is a great coat.

Perfect resort jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 8"
    Weight: 140 lbs
    Size Purchased: medium

I typically wear a size medium (5'8", 140lbs) and felt the jacket fit perfectly with enough length to keep me warm and perfect length sleeves to tuck over or under gloves. I ski in the east and always fit a down jacket underneath and always feel warm, there is even room to add a fleece layer on particularly cold days. The details on the jacket are awesome - it t zips up over your face nicely and has a really soft interior fabric so it keeps my cheeks warm! The sleeves have a portion that extends to let you slip your thumb in to put under gloves.

I always get compliments on how nice it looks just walking around town. The zipper on the olive jacket is pink - the picture looks a bit more orange.

Wish it fit...

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I ordered this jacket in the Seafoam color in a Small.
I am 5'8 120 lbs and generally wear a size 0/2 or Xs/S

The Vixen is extremely well made and technical for a soft shell. The taped zippers are great - something I wish more women's ski jackets had. The colors are so fun, and I LOVED the seafoam color I ordered. Unfortunately this jacket was too small.

I typically wear an XSmall or Small in ski jackets, and ordered a Small in the Vixen so I could layer underneath (as it has no insulation). I was super bummed when this jacket was too small, and a Medium was unavailable. Even with no layers underneath, the Small size was awkwardly short when paired with ski pants. When I put a light down layer on under (my layer of choice on cold ski days), the Vixen was instantly too restricting through the shoulders.

I wish this jacket had fit how I wanted it to, but it just didn't do it for me. If you are shorter (I'm a little taller) this jacket would probably fit great, but if you are taller, I'd recommend sizing up.

Good Jacket-fit true or large for size

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I typically buy small or medium size tops. I bought a medium and I am 130, 5'4 athletic build. I love the size--perfect for skiing when you want to put a few layers beneath the jacket, or just a T-shirt. The arms are a bit long but I like how long the jacket is because it keeps my butt warm. The only thing that is slightly off is the color in the picture. I got denim and the color is a bit lighter than the pic but still looks good. I also like the durability of the jacket. Taped seams are great and the pockets also hold an ample amount of stuff.

Cool Jacket

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

This jacket is well made, nice color, all great. The down side is the sizing. I would say it is a little bit long for any short girls out there. Otherwise I would have kept it!

what colors are the taped seams on the mahogany. They look maybe dark grey or black.

Perfect addition to my arsenal of coats

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have fallen in love with this coat. I use it for skiing on resort, touring in the backcountry, and around town when its not puffy down coat weather. The hood and neck area are great with a helmet - there is plenty of room to pull the neck up over your first when the wind is howling. The pit zips are ample enough to quickly drop heat when working hard and are easy to reach so you don't need a friend to help open/close them - they also work in both directions so you can choose if you want the zippers to hang out by your ribs or elbows. I bought this jacket in Black and the purple zippers add a nice touch of femininity and style.
I would definitely recommend this jacket!

LOVE THIS JACKET!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I finally got the FlyLow jacket I'd been searching for. Sizing is definitely an issue when it comes to getting the fit right in this brand. I'd say I'm a large Small (if that makes sense!) and tried the Masala in Small but it was just a bit too snug once I had layers under the powder skirt; I tried the Masala in Medium but it was huge on me. I tried the Vixen in Small, again a bit too slender fitting, but finally I got it right with the Vixen in Medium. And the Mahogany color is this really cool understated purple which I love. It's soft and flexible but definitely stands up to harsh weather. Wish it had a powder skirt but I just cinch the cord a tiny bit to keep it close. Big thanks to Backcountry for putting up with me on my journey to find the perfect FlyLow jacket.I got there in the end and so appreciate your amazing customer service and returns policy.

Great Jacket

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I purchased the coral vixen jacket from the flylow warehouse in CO and I am so glad I did! I am really short, about 4 10, and I have a really hard time finding ski jackets that fit me and that can handle all types of weather/terrain. Prior to this jacket I was wearing a kids NorthFace Hyvent which worked fine, but after wearing the FlyLow Vixen I realized I had been missing out. The jacket is a little long on the arms but it fits much better than any other brand name women's jacket I have tried on (marmot, arcteryx, HH, patagonia, North Face.....). Also this jacket is SO comfortable, it is very soft on the inside. It is has very minor insulation (a little more than the Masala Flylow Jacket but the Masala Jacket fit a little larger on me) and I would categorize it as a shell with a little added bonus. It felt windproof, more so than the HyVent Jacket. Overall I love it! The colors they have are great, the product is awesome, and the fit is fantastic! (for reference I bought an XS and I am about 100 lbs - it's definitely a little roomy on me, but it'll be perfect for layering).

An all round badass coat

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

When I first got this coat, I fell in love with it. Least season I got it in the peachy color. I loved the fit and the functionality of the jacket. It was my go to coat for the season. I felt like a badass every time I put it on. I loved it so much I got it in the Camel this season! Can't wait to shred around with it this year.
