Description

Innovate and improve.

The Quantum Jacket is a heavy-duty technical shell that’s lighter, stronger, and more weather-resistant than FlyLow Gear’s original shell, the award-winning Lab Coat. For starters, the Quantum employs an upgraded fabric with a 20K waterproof rating to block out winter wetness. It also comes with an improved sleeve fit for easier layering, 16-inch underarm zips for venting, and a removable powder skirt. Whether you use it in-bounds or during your next backcountry outing, this shell is ready to shelter you from winter storms.

Bomber Construction, Perfect Fit, Great Features

I looked for a while this season for a new shell, and I couldn't find a better jacket for the price. I am 6'1", 180 lbs, with a long torso, and the Medium fits like it was made for me. The hood is *actually* helmet compatible, unlike so many that make this claim. There is plenty of room to layer, but it doesn't make me look like a "steezy" park rat. It has all the features you could want, from the huge pit zips to the zip out powder skirt to the huge internal dump pockets. The fabric is heavy duty, but the cut is generous enough to keep it from being restrictive. I am a snowboarder, but I am totally sold on Flylow's products. After being so pleased with this jacket, I ordered the Stash pants, an equally great product. Can't find better quality and better thought out outerwear for the price.

Does anyone know if the Quantum has the same fit as the Iceman? I'm 6'0 165 and tried on the Iceman in a Medium and found it a little short for a ski jacket...however, I did like that it wasn't too baggy around the torso area. I'm wondering if the Quantum Medium is a little bit longer than the Iceman. I'm hesitant to get the large if it is going to be significantly more baggy around the torso area. Thoughts?...

I wear a Medium Higgins, and an XL in the Quantum and Iceman. I'm also 6' and 150 lbs. The Higgins fits me really well, with enough room for a mid-weight puffy layer underneath. The Quantum is my baggy jacket and covers my butt. The Large is pretty big, and it would probably have been a better fit, but I like the baggy style in my shell. The Iceman Medium did not fit me, either, so I decided to go with the XL. Again, I probably could have fit better in the Large, but steez prevails, again. As far as pants go, I wear a Large in the Stash pant, and the Chemical. I like the fit better when I'm tele skiing, since it doesn't catch on my knees or boots. The XL pants sure would look nice, though.

Fantastic jacket for snowboarding

Looked all over for a technical style shell that I could use for snowboarding. Tried several different brands and just couldn't find the right fit. Tech shells are known for having a slender "european" fit and therefore wouldnt work for me. Finally came across this jacket and man am I glad that I did! Tech shell with enough room for layering and adequate movement needed for snowboarding. Features ample pockets, a nice mp3 pocket and integrated powder skirt! Which is also hard to find. Tested on the slopes in 15 degree weather with a light down base layer and the jacket worked perfectly!

Company even better than the awesome gear

Just received a new xs in red. First impression is that the jacket is bomber constructed and the fit is perfect and color is great. More of a tomato red than the pict above. Anybody considering this jacket or another shell should buy this one. Another note... Flylow, the company and their customer service, is bar none the best in the business. I can't say enough good things about them and there products. I won't go into the specifics... all I can say is that when the founder emails you personally and makes sure you are taken care of... in my opinion that says a lot about how they operate.

Little on the large side...

Jacket is sick--no doubt. However, it's on the larger end of the spectrum for each size. I usually get away with wearing Mediums--especially shells because I layer. This Medium fit me like a large. I had to exchange it. No performance review yet, but stay tuned.

Wanted to like it...

I really wanted to like this jacket. It has most things you want in a ski jacket. The material seems very durable. The hood is great and the collar is nice and high. However, the arms were a little short to start out, and when you raise your arms the whole jacket rides up quite a bit. The sizing is pretty large overall, so you get a baggy look around the torso.

Hey cbg, it sounds like the Flylow Higgins Jacket may fit you a bit better. It is slimmer in the torse with similar length arms. so you can size up to get them long enough for you.

whats the difference between this jacket and the Higgins? Why would someone buy this over the other.

Skibum

The Quantum is more traditional Hard Shell Jacket. The material is tough, 20k/20k and does not stretch. It has a waterproof pocket, removable powder skirt and free ride fit. The Higgins is a more modern 3 Layer Soft shell (10k/10k), with less features on the inside it is simple and streamlined with me stretch and a bit more warm. Both will treat you right.

Im 5ft5 and 135-140 lbs. I hear these run big. Would a small be the size for me or an xsmall? I wear a base layer and a fleece under my coat when i ski.

Yeah, at 5' 8'' and 110, a small works and fits a Flylow down hoody and some capilene underneath nicely.

Bomber Hard Shell

The Quantum is my go to shell no matter the conditions. It sheds wind, snow, and rain like it's nobody's business, yet it is breathable enough to wear on the skin track or boot pack. The huge pit zips make it easy to cool down or toke up anywhere. I love how this jacket fits, it is loose and comfortable, however I don't feel like I'm hauling around too much fabric. I'm 5ft 9in 155lbs and I wear a large.
