    Built tough, just like you.

A winter spent in the Northwoods demands outerwear built to put up with all kinds of frigid, nasty weather. The Fjallraven Men's Ovik Lite Jacket does just that while providing ruggedly handsome stylish looks. Fjallraven's versatile G-1000 Lite fabric can easily be impregnated with Fjallraven's Greenland Wax for additional weather protection. A 500-fill combination of goose down and feathers offers superior warmth, and Fjallraven's down production process has been praised by environmental and animal welfare groups. The Ovik's two-way zipper adds convenience, and leather detailing accents this vest's stylish looks.

    Fjallraven newbie.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

Just purchased my first Fjallraven jacket (Ovik Lite in mountain grey) and so far I'm very impressed. Its very comfy and warm. It's true to size so perfect fit for me. The pockets are very warm---it felt like my body heat kept the pockets warm. Each time I put my hands in the pockets, they were already toasty. I wore it with a t-shirt and long sleeve henley in 40-ish degree/rainy weather and it was warm and never over heated. I highly recommend it.

Tech specs a bit off, but great jacket.

    • Size Bought: Medium

I haven't worn it more than a few times, but it's definitely a warm jacket and the fit is pretty true-to-size. The jacket is a bit longer than what I'm used to, but the rest of it is sized very close to the Rab and Marmot jackets that I own. Of course having the jacket a bit longer is actually useful for a winter jacket, so this isn't necessarily a bad thing. According to the sizing chart I'm right between small & medium, but usually size up to have room for layering underneath. A small in this jacket would have been shorter, but too tight for my preference.

I do want to point out the tech specs are a bit off on Backcountry. According to the tag on this jacket, the fill power is 700 (not 500) and it has a minimum of 95% down (not 80%). The fill weight is 141g for medium.

Tech specs a bit off, but great jacket.

Are you sure this is a legitimate product? Those down specs are for the Pak Down jacket. Also, how heavy is the overall item?

I've seen varying weights and specs for this jacket and other Fjallraven products. I wonder if they have control over the manufacturing, or marketing is the issue? I'd like to buy one but I'm nervous.

I would have answered sooner had I noticed the comment! It's definitely the legitimate product, no doubt there. I don't really have a way to weigh the jacket, (unless you have a suggestion), but it's definitely not as light as the usual down jackets due to it's G1000 outer fabric. It's a tough call between the manufacturing vs marketing. I do know that I saw the exact same jacket at Nordstrom and the specs on the label were identical to the one I have. I wouldn't worry about it too much though, the return policy with backcountry is excellent if you're not happy.

If you actually check the women's version of this jacket on the Fjallraven website they talk about a 700 CUIN fill in the description, but in the actual specs it's still listed as 500. (http://www.fjallraven.com/ovik-lite-jacket-w) So I'm more leaning towards them having altered the manufacturing process recently and just not having updated the specs yet.

Good jacket - a little bit pricey

-Warm enough for a fairly cold day. G1000 outer fabric keeps the water out for a while when it's comes to rain. The brand says it all.

-Disadvantage: the down feather leaks out of the jacket frequently. I don't know if it happens with other down jacket or not but it is a big disappoint with me due to the fact that i have to overpay for that one.
