Durable Trekking Jacket For High-Output and Those that Run Hot!

This jacket was a game changer for me. I run hot. I simply cannot tolerate high-output activities in conventional shell jackets- no matter how well they claim to “breathe”. Even in the most expensive waterproof-breathable jacket I end up drenched in sweat (even when Nordic ski touring at -40C). This jacket has proven to be the ultimate combination of materials and design to both keep me warm from wind and cold, as well as BREATHE. I finally have a jacket that I can climb hills/mountains and charge on my skis without getting dangerously wet from sweat. Some important points. This jacket can only really be treated with wax on the G-1000 panels (e.g. shoulders and arms)- so it cannot be waterproofed like other Fjallraven jackets with total G-1000 coverage. That being said- for high output trekking/climbing- this jacket is the bomb- offering a superb balance of breathability and protection from weather. And if you treat the G-1000 panels with wax, they shed precipitation and snow beautifully! Sizing. Follow Fjallraven’s size recommendation. I am 178cm (5’10”) tall and a physically-fit 86kg (190lbs). Fjallraven consistently recommends a size-Large for me (and generally fit is bang on- Medium would be too small). Although I do not think of myself as a “Large” man- I have relatively broad, thick shoulders. I have tried on many size-Medium Fjallraven tops/jackets (and own a number of them), and- although there is enough volume through the torso in a Medium- I simply cannot get a Medium to fit me through the chest and shoulders- I have consistently needed a Large. I have tried on a Medium in this jacket, and it fits nicely until I try to zip it up to my chin- I can’t even get it closed! In the Large, I can fit an insulated mid-layer underneath. This jacket is not as versatile as some of the other Fjallraven jackets. For example, I also own the Skogso- it is more versatile as it can be entirely treated with wax, making it effectively waterproof. The Keb jacket however breathes better. Perhaps the Kaipak (which I have never tried) is the sweet spot between the two? The Skogso is my everyday jacket. The Keb is my high-output trekking-ski touring jacket. Highly recommended!

Keb jacket is great for almost every condition

Other than heavy rain, this jacket will be a great addition to your adventuring wardrobe. I practically live in my Keb pants, and love the fabrics, so I knew I'd like the jacket. Perfect amount of stretch, and toughness. I have yet to "break" anything on my pants or jacket and Fjallraven has a good policy if anything breaks.

Love these jackets I own 2. They are some of the most versatile and durable pieces you can find, rugged enough to hike through forest and rock, water repellent enough for even medium rain, really well vented for a great range of temps and climates and wind resistant enough for almost any climate, paired with its own keb hoody or just a thick wool sweater or fleece it?s basically a rugged low tech winter shell for skiing too. I grab these almost every time I go out and especially if I?m worried about damaging a fragile gore Tex type shell or if it?s gonna be jammed down in a pack, I dot have to worry about this one getting damaged. And if it ever does it?s super field repairable . The wax system is not fully waterproof it will soak over time and needs redoing every so often depending on the level of water and wind repellence you desire (vs breath ability) but not more than once a year and it?s fun. Just use a blow dryer basically to melt it in evenly wherever you want extra repellence. Great tall collar also, that?s the original reason I bough it, great for windy days and cold nights. Has chest pockets and side zips for venting heat and reaching inside to pants pockets, vest pocket, insulation layer pocket etc. I?m 6?1, 33 waist have a size M though L would work as well.

Great pairing jacket

I got this to act as a shell to one of my Lite Abisko puffy jackets to act as a windbreak. The side vents match up perfectly with the pockets of my puffy, and my jacket doesn't look like a snowman suit. I love that it has some great 4-way stretch so I can reach into my backpacking rig on long hikes without feeling restricted.

The quiver killer

This jacket like the pants eliminates most jackets from my arsenal. It is my go to from day hikes to ski touring. With lots of stretch and breathe-ability the Keb Jacket keeps me cool when it gets hot. Also love the storm hood!

Excellent, snug fitting coat

I love the fit of this jacket. The online size guide really helped me to workout the best size for me. A problem with other coats is that as they get larger, the waist flares disproportionately, not a problem with this jacket.

Keb Jacket

Fits incredibly well and the materials/construction are exactly what I was looking for. The collar on the jacket is the only thing I am still struggling with, the hood is a nice tunnel hood. But when the hood is laying back, the collar looks a little awkward.

I returned it...large too small 6 ft 185

did not use it as it was too small but looked like it might be a great jacket although a little too noisey for my taste built to last forever however
