Fantastic and versatile!

I have the 15” version and it’s fantastic! Easily holds my 16 inch MacBook Pro and just as securely holds my work laptop which is a 13 inch Microsoft Surface. Despite this laptop being much smaller than intended is is still held securely. I also find this version of Kanken much better thought-out than the original. This one has padded shoulder strips and extra pockets that the original doesn’t have. My laptop version also seems to have a much deeper main compartment than the original. I brought an original after I’d been using my laptop Kanken for sometime and was very disappointed.  My advice is even if you don’t intended to use as a laptop bag pay the extra and get the laptop version over the original.

Not a great choice for me

About this item about 6 months ago and have used it many times for traveling. I don't like it because the canvas attracts all manner of Lent hair and fibers that show up really badly and makes it look dirty. Even running your hand across it can pick up some skin residue. It's also heavy because of the thick canvas. Finally, the side pockets are too small for a standard round water bottle.

Perfect

I did not imagine that a backpack can be so durable and good-looking at the same time. You can really feel that weight is allocated evenly, which means that carrying the bag is much easier than expected. Additionally, I ordered the one with 15” laptop compartment, however, my 16” macbook pro fits in perfectly.

Good Quality and Well Made

This backpack is awesome! I’ve had it for 3 years and use it every day for school and even for trips. It is very well made and I love it. I plan on having this thing throughout high school at least, as these bags are known for lasting quite a few years. When I first ordered this bag, I was looking for a school backpack that was well made so I could use it for a long time, cute and simple, and had enough space so I could fit all of my school supplies in there yet wasn’t too bulky and easier to transport. I already had one of their mini backpacks that I got for a gift a few years ago, I love it and used it a lot as well. Initially, I knew that these bags were pretty expensive, so the thought of buying one hardly crossed my mind, but after reading about it online I understood the appeal. Not only do they last a long time but they are made sustainably and with hardier material that works decently for the outdoors as well. And while it took some convincing from my mom, I ended up getting it, and let me say it has done what I need and has maintained quality. Here are a few more things to note: Quality- Truly amazing, I don’t know how but I’ve used it daily and it has stayed practically the same. The only things that show any sign of wear are the stitching around the logo(and that's hardly any), and slight wear on the bottom edge where the straps are attached. But I have no concerns about it breaking any time soon. Also, I’ve spilled water on it a couple of times and been through the snow and rain but there's no signs of water damage and it dries quickly as well. I’ve never had any issues with the zippers, and I can count on the handle to hold my lunchbox or a small extra bag. Functionality- While there aren’t a lot of pockets, this bag is still easy to organize for me. It fits my Chromebook that I use for school, a folder or binder, 4 small notebooks, my 32 oz water bottle, a decently large pencil case, one to three books, and a small planner. Plus some snacks or money in the front pocket. That’s all I use for school and it works. The two outside pockets honestly haven’t done too much for me, I have a couple of extra pencils, and I put my phone in them for easy access during class, but they never really fit much beyond that. The laptop pocket is good its nice and padded, which I appreciate as the life of a teen can be tumultuous sometimes and I never have to worry about if my laptop is broken or not. Comfort- All I can say is it's sturdy, the straps are thin and functional, which means they don’t fall off if I’m using both of them, and they aren’t bulky or rub on my skin hardly. The bag itself doesn’t sag and it's supposed to prevent back problems and so far I can’t complain. Design- It’s simple and timeless, and the color holds up well. It's a little dirty from being on the school floor but it doesn’t stain. I like the look a lot, especially as a teen girl with an ever-changing style, I haven’t even thought about getting a new one. Other than that I don’t have much else to say, this works for me and I would recommend it. It's an investment for sure, but if anything, with the long-lasting quality I’m sure it would be cheaper in the long run. And I would say I’ll buy it again but I don’t know if I’ll even need to.

Great laptop pack

It fits everything that I used to have in a bulky shoulder "courier" bag, but with smaller overall dimensions and easier access to my things with the help of some internal cases for chargers, etc. My 15" laptop just fits! And the pack easily fits under the seat in front while travelling by plane, and is quite easy to access during flight. Small improvements could be to accommodate a larger water bottle and slightly longer shoulder straps.

Good bag but not fit for 15"

I bought this bag so that I could comfortably bring my laptop with me to work. I love it but it almost didn't fit... My laptop is 36,5 cm instead of 38,1 cm (15") and I had to force a little bit to make it fit, I guess with time it'll be easier but I don't think a laptop that's actually 15" can fit. Overall a good bag though.

Perfect!

I needed a bag that could hold a laptop, notebooks, spare shoes, packed lunch and more, for work whilst being comfortable to wear, waterproof and reasonably smart-looking - this does all of that! Very useful to be able to open the main compartment all the way round too. Only issue is that only slim water bottles etc will fit in the side pockets

Does not fit my 15.6 in laptop

Fits width-wise, but not length-wise. My laptop just sticks out. I'll have to return!

Beautiful backpack but…

If you are carring your laptop everyday to school/college I do not recommend this backpack. Even tough it comes with shoulder pads, they are still too thin! Whenever I carry a lots of objects my back and shoulders hurts a lot! So sad about this! I absolutely love the quality and color but is not for carrying heavy stuff !

15” Kanken Bag plus Kanken Organiser

5” Kanken Bag & Kanken Organiser Pro - Roomy Pro - well made good materials Con - No rigidity to the bag - the seat pad offers minima but some padding. Pro - tote carry handles easy to grab Con - Tote handles look odd if not press studded together and the bag is full. The press studs are fiddly to do. The handles when together stick up towards your hair and annoy you. Pro - bottle holders do fit up to a Hyrda Flask 12oz and 16oz when the bag is just partial full. Con - bottle holders do fit up to a Hyrda Flask 12oz and 16oz DO NOT fit them when the bag is full, lucky to get one bottle in. Pro - A tiny bit of padding on the strap makes the bag comfortable, I can’t imagine what it would be like full without this bit of padding! Pro - front pocket is quite roomy can fit in a handy few items. Con - I find zips can be awkward to get to, I’m looking to get ‘zip pullers’ added to them just for ease of use. Con - Strap adjusters I feel are upside-down and make adjusting the straps longer/shorter more difficult then on other backpack I have owned. Pro - The traditional shape of the Kanken bag is quite square though I like the bag when it’s 'part full' and I can draw the top grab handles in, to taper the squareness off at the top. I also try to tidy those handles up better than you can with just the one press stud. Kanken Organiser Pro - Good got it in the matching colour as my 15” padded laptop bag - fog (which is a khaki cement warm grey) I love this colour because it’s very neutral. Con - the pocket material on the organiser is thinner and the pockets quite shallow. Pro - the pockets are spaced too and bottom on the board Pro - the organiser is two pieces of flexible tough plastic covered in the matching material, edged with piping this reduces friction / tears / adds strength to the organiser. Pro - the plastic board of the organiser adds much needed rigidity to the Kanken bag, without this any heavy items I found slump to the bottom and rest on the base of your spin. The boards also help to spread the weight of your bag across your back. I feel the bags need to come with more back Support and supplying this type of board with the seat pad would be the answer. Con - the organiser in the seat pocket if my 15” laptop Kanken sits in a way that makes it difficult to add a Hydra flask 16oz into one bottle holder prior to this I had no problem with getting one flask in. One in each side was a little tricky only if my bag was quite full, now getting two hydra flasks in (one in each bottle holder) is extremely hard. I carry two flasks with me commuting - one for water and a hydra coffee flask. I have had to move the seat pad into the laptop compartment to try and relieve this a little which it has.
