Kanken 16L Backpack

Overhyped

I love the brand, but this backpack tends to annoy me. I love their larger backpacks, they are actually designed for modern times, like their Laptop kankens. But the classic is simply too outdated. Great for kids in east europe (where I am from) since we do not use tech there to take notes. Outdated for the west (where I study now) as fitting a laptop is limited to 14 inchers. Pockets do not fit waterbottles, so it makes it a bit useless. I know they were made with pencil holders and umbrellas in mind, but again, obsolete, at least for the second pocket, to be so narrow. I own 3 kankens, 2 classic and 1 laptop 17 inch. I use the classic kankens when visiting my friend on weekends, but sometimes I have survived a full week at my friend's, granted, i carried a foldable cheap reusable bag too to fit everything in, as 1 week's worth of clothes is not realistic with the kanken classic alone. I carried my laptop, chargers, laptop thick sleeve, clothes, sunscreens, etc. It is very annoying taking my laptop out of this while my clothes are still in there. It is only comfy when I have just my laptop, charger, sleeve, phone charger and some snacks, when I go by foot to an IT club with friends where we code all day together. I use this during short vacation trips too. Good for grocery shopping...if you just visit 1 store. Otherwise....I always must carry a foldable bag in the side pocket of the backpack cuz it never holds enough groceries when I buy food for 1 week. Overall, I get a lot of nuisances with this kanken, I however get tons of great usage from their larger kankens. It is ok too for going out shopping for clothes with friends I suppose.... Mind you I love this brand, I own a lot of their products. And I have realized classic kankens are overrated. It is perfect though for school kids, grades 1-9, maybe laptop with school books could work. The way you unzip it and it is shaped at the opening like luggage is very practical I must say, it has made packing groceries while i was in a hurry very comfortable and strategic to pack quick. Quality is superb and I can see lasting my lifetime.

They upped the price!!! I was planning on buying this but then they upped the price.

Classic Greenland

I've used this classic for 10 years and it has traveled all over the world. It still looks brand new.

Bad quality

i’m really disappointed with the brand! I just washed once in the washing machine and the bag looks old and the logo gone🤷🏼‍♀️ fast wash of 20min!

Huge disappointment

I've had mine a little over a year. Very disappointed. The side pouches don't fit a water bottle and everything is an add on. If you need shoulder padding, you gave to buy them. If you want to be able to carry a bottle so that it's accessible, you have to buy an add onthat doesn't even stay put. If you want compartments inside, it's another add on. And its not ergonomic and has no hip support or chest strap to help keep it from splaying.. Caused me neck and shoulder pain. Also hard to clean and the color wears off in an unsightly way. Not worth the money. It's a box with straps. .

Not water resistant

I bought this bag recently for school only to find out it is not water resistant I am disappointed as I love the look and it fits all my supply’s

This backpack is so trendy and comfortable it fits all my school stuff but it’s soo cute

Love it!

I haven't had this bag on many adventures yet, but so far it seems great! It fits a lot of stuff, and I can easily put boxes out other pokey things on there without hurting my back (thanks to the seat cover). I like how far down the zippers can go, makes packing and unpacking very easy. It fits my back very nicely, without putting too much weight on my shoulders, like a usual bag would. Love!

Exactly what i needed for my Europe trip!

I bought my Kånken a few years ago to take it on a trip to Europe, and it was so worth it! I could fit everything i needed for the long plane trip, i used it on my day trips, the foam sit was very useful, and i even embroidered it. Very high quality, and lovely colors.

I have two Kanken's and I love them both!! I have the mini and the regular. I can't get enough of these colors!!!
