When you're in really remote places, you don't want to be stuck with light and flimsy gear. The Fjallraven Men's Abisko Lite Jacket is highly durable, but light enough you can comfortably hike in it without feeling weighted down. Stretch fabric throughout the torso provides excellent range of motion, while G-1000 fabric at the sleeves, shoulder, chests, and hood provide you with the protection you need when hiking in wet and humid climates. Simple and functional, the Abisko is fitted with an adjustable hood, hook and loop adjustable cuffs, and two large zippered chest pockets that easily hold maps, snacks, or your compass.

I used the jacket for a few weeks on the New England coast sailing/working on the water/hiking/walking through town and found it to be fine at shedding light rain and blocking the wind, but any more precipitation and the jacket was soaked through. I understand that to increase the waterproof nature of the G1000 material you need to add Greenland Wax, but because the majority of the jacket is a stretchy, different material, they suggest using another spray on waterproofing agent which, personally, kind of defeats the nature of the waxed cotton jacket.
Aside from this, it is an extremely comfortable jacket that is well thought out. The zipper and some of the stitching seemed a little light for my use in a coastal, salt-air environment but the jacket isn't designed for that.
