    Cushion for the trail.

Rounding out Fizik's cross-country family as a cost-effective yet lightweight saddle, the Fizik Tundra M5 VS Manganese Saddle delivers pressure relief and trail-ready comfort. The Tundra M5's race-ready silhouette is slim and tapered, just 125mm wide and 290mm long, so it accommodates riders with narrower sit bones who need room to move around in the saddle while anticipating terrain changes during a race.

Fizik enhances rider comfort by adopting a pressure-relief channel along the center of the saddle, and unlike many saddles with splits or cutouts, the channel does not affect the overall stiffness and rigidity of shell. The carbon-reinforced nylon WingFlex shell does flex, but it does so specifically along the wings of the saddle only. It gives just enough to allow riders of different sizes to maintain freedom of movement throughout the pedal stroke without experiencing chafing or irritation, while the rest of the saddle body stays rigid.

Fizik surrounds the center channel with soft, low-density cushioning for a more forgiving—but not overwhelmingly plush—ride, and it covers the entire saddle shell with durable Microtex. Atop manganese rails, the saddle won't absorb quite as much vibration as its pricier siblings, but will maintain excellent durability and resistance to wear from the elements without adding unnecessary grams to your ultralight XC frame.

    Fantastic XC Saddle

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Of all of the saddles I have ridden on the mountain bike, this is certainly up there with the best. The perch at the back is just wide enough to accommodate mid-wide sit bones, and yet perfectly narrow to allow maneuverability.

I have been doing some rather long rides aboard the Tundra, and have yet to have a bad day on it.

It is a relatively hard saddle with minimal padding, so it is not great for a beginner, but definitely worth a look if you have earned some durability with your posterior.
