Fi'zi:k's saddles are designed according to its Spine Concept system — a rider's spine flexibility is matched to an optimal saddle shape so that each rider is able to maximize position and power output. The three levels are Snake, Chameleon, and Bull. If you're the yoga guru on your team, capable of twisting yourself into a pretzel, you are a snake. If touching your toes is something out of a tall-tale for you, you're a bull. If you fit smack dab in the middle, well, we'll call you a chameleon. And for you, Fi'zi:k created the Antares Saddle.
The Antares line of saddles consists of several models with the 00 being the lightest and most expensive. The K:ium version, featuring the same shape and benefits for the chameleon, provides the most value. Its semi-narrow (142mm) width allows you to manage your body's optimal position over the saddle, as chameleons are prone to doing. The semi-rounded paddle leaves your femurs free to move without your inside thighs getting caught on the wings of the saddle. This Chameleon Spine Concept is reinforced through the carbon Rilsan shell which is supportive while allowing enough flex to be forgiving on your sit bones and soft tissue.
The carbon shell is covered with a durable Microtex which resists wear and fading. The rails of the Antares are Fi'zi:k's proprietary K:ium. K:ium is a combination of metal alloys. They are 8% lighter than titanium, infinitely less expensive, given the rising cost of titanium, and have a greater strength to weight ratio. Because silicon has been added to the alloy, there is also an extra degree of vibration dampening. Additionally, the added chromium keeps the rails shiny and increases corrosion resistance.
The Fi'zi:k Antares K:ium is 274mm long and 142mm wide. It is available in the color White/silver. It is compatible with Fi'zi:k's line of Integrated Clip System (ICS) products.
