Gravity's worst enemy.

Some say the laws of physics are immutable, but the Five Ten Quantum Climbing Shoe is out to prove them wrong. The aggressively down-turned last shape and sticky Stealth Mystique rand allows this shoe to gobble up horizontal roofs and 45-degree boulders with ease. But unlike many steep-specific rock shoes, the Quantum also boasts a medium-stiff midsole and a Stealth Onyxx outsole that will crush dime edges after you pull the lip.

  • Synthetic Cowdura uppers provide long-lasting durability with minimal stretch
  • Full-length laces can be cinched down for a precise fit
  • High-performance last shape with an aggressive downturn excels on severely overhanging terrain
  • Medium-stiff midsole provides an ideal balance between sensitivity and edging power
  • Low-volume heel design fits snugly for improved heel hooking performance
  • Stealth Onyxx rubber on the outsole is slightly harder than other Stealth formulas for enhanced edging power
  • Super sticky Stealth Mystique rubber on the rand improves toe-hooking performance

I got a pair of the quantums not too long ago, and I think they are a half size too small. I would like to exchange them, but I got them for less than the current listing, so is it possible for me to exchange them or would I have to pay the extra cost as well?

I didnt see an order history for you under this account. Shoot me an email at bporreca@backcountry.com. Or you can give me a call 1-800-409-4502 ext. 4181, should be here till about 4pm MST today. Ill see what we can do about the exchange.

i tried a pair of scarpa boos tics i got a 44.5 and it was just a touch big to live with what should i look for here

Responded on

These will be similar to the boostics in the sense that they will not stretch a great deal. If we could get you out 2 sizes that would be ideal. We will pay to get one pair back if you order 2 sizes just to give you a heads up. Hope this helps. Give me a call or shoot me an email. Ext 6069 ewatford@backcountry.com

Im a size 40 in Solutions and a tight size 44 in Dragons, does anyone know what size i should get these in please? Both of my shoes there are very tight

Responded on

I have a size 40 solutions and 41.5 in the quantums. I feel they are a little too tight. I would recommend a 42 in these. If you want to email me I can see what price I can get you on these and if you wanted to order a couple different sizes with me I can offer a free return label for the size that doesn't fit. My email is skdavis@backcountry.com

I wear a size 9 in Black Wings. Should I expect a size 9 in Quantums as well?

Responded on

I would get the same size as your black wings if the black wings fit well. If you wanted to order a couple of different sizes email me and I can get your order set up and a free return label for the size that doesn't fit.

Could anyone comment on the sizing compared to the anasazi vvs, moccasym, dragons, or sportiva solutions?

Responded on

I wear a 14B US (48 Euro) in street shoes, and I am consistently a 13-14 in every 5.10 shoe I've ever tried. Unfortunately for me, 5.10 shoes almost always run wide, the exception being the Blackwings/Dragons. I wear a 45 in Solutions, and a 44-45 (11-11.5 US) in most Sportiva shoes.

With regard to specific models, I have not, unfortunately, tracked down a pair of Quantums to try on yet. I called 5.10 and asked the same question you did, and they indicated that the toe box and heel would be similar to the Blackwings, but that the downturn was less aggressive. I'm still on the prowl for a pair to get on my feet; if that happens, I'll let you know!

You don't need to do Quantum physics to understand how rad these shoes are. The stealth onyxx rubber will allow you to grip to anything and everything. Very similar fit to the Five Ten Dragons I would say. You can definitely get a nice custom snug fit with the lace up as well.
