Description

Mountain bike shoes—not glorified roadie slippers with lugs.

Lace up your Five Ten Hellcat Shoes and clip in to your mountain bike knowing you'll have secure footing when traversing the mandatory hike-a-bike. While your riding buddies slip and tiptoe around the sketchy section in their hard-rubber soled, metal spiked, road-bike-based kicks, your Stealth-Rubber-equipped Hellcats grip the terrain like dedicated approach shoes.

The Hellcat Shoe has a Five Ten Stealth rubber sole. Stealth rubber gives you tons of grip so your feet stay firmly planted on the pedals. This soft rubber compound also provides grip when you're off the bike scrambling up a sketchy section, and is extremely durable. No other rubber out there is as sticky and lasts as long against the offenses of the gnarly traction pins on your pedals. If you plan to use the Hellcat Shoe with SPD pedals, you'll simply need to remove the cleat pocket cover and replace it with your cleat, clip in and go. The stiff-but-sensitive shank that provides a solid pedaling platform without taking away from pedal feel or the natural flex of the shoe. A Velcro ankle strap beefs up the already-beefy ankle support for a firm-but-natural fit.

The Hellcat's upper is burly, abrasion-resistant leather upper that holds up to season-after-season of ridiculous off-road abuse. We really like that the lace eyelets have metal grommets. This means they'll lace up more easily, and tensioning the shoe before a downhill run is quicker and more thorough down the forefoot. To top it all off, a velcro strap is used to secure the midfoot, and it keeps the laces under control and out of your chain.

The Five Ten Hellcat Shoe is Black and comes in half sizes from men's 6 through 12, with a full size jump to 13 and another to 14.

Be aware these shoes do not fit true to size. You need to order a 1/2 size down from what your normal shoe size it.

At first, I thought they were a bit on the heavy side, but after using them for several rides, I realized that they are great for mountain biking. They are durable yet comfortable. The stiff sole doesn't flex under hard pedaling so I love these shoes. I recommend them to any rider that is looking for a shoe that works well on and off road, and also blends in with your casual riding gear.

I would recommend these to anybody that is looking for a nice looking, durable shoe, that performs well under any circumstance. As a matter of fact, I'm so satisfied with them, I am looking into picking up another pair of Five Ten shoes in the near future. They fit true to size so you do not have to second guess what size to order.

I do not agree that they fit true to size. They were 1/2 size too large. I'm a perfectionist though fwiw ; )
