The unlined leather upper conforms to your foot over time to ensure a glove-like fit without dead spaces or pressure points. Hook-and-loop closures let you in and out of these Five Ten shoes in seconds, so you can whip them on, send your route, and peel them back off again to chill out.

Fits small

I originally ordered a size 9. Most of my casual/athletic shoes are that size. I needed a 9.5 though. Order the size you would for a distance running shoe, where you know your foot is going to be expanding and stretching. I have only climbed in these once, outdoors. My feet definitely expanded from the morning climb to the afternoon climb, and it was great to be able to quickly adjust the straps while hanging on the wall. I am not an aggressive climber, but I thought overall they were great.

Great training shoe, first shoe

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great rubber! I use these for circuit bouldering and gym climbing and am very satisfied. A half size down from street is as low as I would go. I'd give these 5 stars but for the ridiculous bottom strap, 3-4 cm too long!

Are sizes given US sizes or UK?

Sizes given are US. My experience with 5.10 has been that one half size down from my street shoe is the sweet spot for a tight fit. At your street shoe size they will be comfy for all-day wear or appropriate for a beginner, and if you want to get crazy then go down a full size or more.

Great for intermediate indoor climber

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm an intermediate level, mostly indoor climber and I love them so far. The velcro straps help them fit snugly to my narrow feet, while still being easy to take on and off, which is nice for the gym. I've only had them a month or so, but I had 5.10s before and they lasted forever (until I lost one), so I have confidence in the brand.

Solid shoes

These shoes are awesome in terms of price vs. performance. If you're new to climbing, I'd throw down the extra $10 and get these over the lace up version. Comfortable, dependable, great for getting into the sport.

My local gym Bridges Rock Gym in El Cerrito, CA have these as their rental shoes. The days when I show up at the gym without my shoes for one reason or another I'm never sorry to use these, they're great!

Can you tell me, please, if there is some difference between this model and the same one in the male version? My size in male is out of stock, so I am thinking in get this one...

Men's run super small...

I have two other pairs of Five-Ten climbing shoes, 9.5 / 42.5 and they fit perfect, these came and I could not even get my foot in them, they are at least a full size too small. There is $6.95 return fee, so be careful, try them on at a store or try your friends or something before you order. As I have to rate, I'll give them a 1, since I could not even try them on, but who really knows what they would have been like if I could have?

Responded on

Giving the shoes a 1 star rating because they fit wrong is irresponsible and misleading. They're great shoes, please ignore Bootboiler's review.
