Aggressiveness is a good thing.
Ideal for a day of bouldering and well-suited for climbing, the Five Ten Blackwing Men's 2012 Climbing Shoe combines an aggressive profile with a durable design. A glove-like fit with easy-on hook-and-loop closure, as well as soft, fleecy microfiber lining that wicks sweat away to prevent hot spots, give this shoe a balance between comfort and precision. The Stealth HF rubber outsole is super-sticky for pulling up under overhangs, touching down on the smallest of foot holds, or throwing heel hooks, whether you're flashing the route or getting ever closer to your project's completion.
- Cowdura (synthetic) upper
- Hook-and-loop closure
- Hard, stiff midsole
- Stealth HF rubber outsole
- Padded tongue with fleecy microfiber lining
- Low-profile ankle

Show age after 2 yrs of very heavy use
Still climb very well though (see review below).
Perfect for roof problems
Example of movements
On IsRail V8 in Moe's Valley (really two V7-8 moves followed by V6 climbing). This shows where this shoe excels: small pockets, toe and heel hooks.
An agro shoe for agro climbing.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: Runs small
Just don't wear them on a multipitch climb. When chasing numbers these are my go-to. These edge extremely well, excel on roof climbing and small pockety climbing but lack a little when it comes to smearing. The Mystique rubber is my favorite yet. These fit like the old 5.10 Dragons but have the same tight heel that was on the 5.10 Teams. After 2 years of heavy use these show a good deal of wear and the down toeing isn't as aggressive anymore but they still climb like they were new.
These are synthetic uppers so if you normally buy 5.10 tight and let them form to your foot I'd order a full size up as these never stretched AT ALL.
long story short: I love 'em
