A fitness watch as stylish as it is smart.

A stylish accessory for your active lifestyle, the Fitbit Blaze Watch + Heart Rate Monitor combines the features of a fitness tracker with the power of a smartwatch to help you manage daily life with fitness in mind. It has innovative features to help you monitor and improve your workout experience, as well as plenty of other features that help you manage everyday life. And with its sleek design, comfortable fit, and interchangeable bands, the Blaze is ready to tag along wherever you go.

PurePulse heart rate monitoring continuously and automatically tracks your heart rate without the need for an uncomfortable chest strap. Simplified heart rate zones help you maximize your workout, and a calorie tracker helps you get an idea of how many calories you burn during a particular workout or activity. Multiple charts and graphs help you analyze your heart rate over time to identify trends and manage stress. You can also review your resting heart rates trends to see how your health and fitness are improving.

The Blaze connects to your iPhone or Android's GPS system to help you map out runs and see real-time stats like mileage and duration. It also lets you see texts, calls, and calendar notifications without having to pull your phone out, and you can even adjust volume and play, pause, or switch songs when you're listening to music on your phone. The touchscreen display lets you check off exercises and gives you summaries after you complete them, and then you can check them on your phone later using the Fitbit app to see how you're progressing towards your goals.

Even when you're not working, your Blaze is. It automatically tracks when you're asleep and when you're restless so you can figure out which habits affect your sleep quality. It also has a vibrating alarm that offers a less jolting way to wake up. SmartTrack automatically recognizes when you're working out and records exercises for you, so you get credit for workouts even when you forget to log them. And of course it offers all the benefits of a standard watch.

    Good Watch

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

The watch is bigger than I expected, but I am actually glad for that, makes it easier to check and operate while working out. It is great for keeping track of how active (or as another reviewer commented, INACTIVE) you've been throughout the day. I like the notification features, specially for incoming calls, makes it harder for me to miss a call. I would prefer for it to be waterproof, but that is not a deal breaker, just a "nice to have" for me.

    Pretty Nice Watch

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

For a fitbit, this is a pretty solid watch. I got this as a present and the person loves it. It is great just to give you a perspective of how much you actually move during a typical work day. (sometimes its shocking how little) The feel and look is much more stylish then the normal fitbit bands as it actually looks like a watch.

A few kinks I've noticed so far...

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Sometimes the watch will turn off notifications on its own. It's kind of a pain to deal with it turning things on and off without you doing it.

Additionally, I've noticed that sometimes it will freeze and not count steps. It's really odd though because it will still be getting heart rate while not counting steps. It's easy to fix with a quick on and off of the watch, but that's something I'd rather not deal with, especially when it comes to losing steps in the challenges my family starts.

    Not bad

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

The face of the watch is bigger than I imagined. It also doesn't count all the steps you do, so watch that.
Like the Bluetooth to your phone so you can see who is calling, text messages, and controlling your music.

    One week in...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

After a week of using this, I can give an initial review of it and what I think versus the Garmin Vivoactive I used to swear by.

Firstly, I really enjoy that I can connect and "compete" with my family in different challenges via the app. We've found that it's highly motivating to see if someone else is really stepping their game up each week and not just letting the week slip by from behind a desk.

Secondly, the interface with my phone is really simple! Syncing is quick and easy and it seems to find my phone with a lot more ease than the Garmin I had previously been using. And so far, I haven't had any software glitches with deleting all of my information. It's definitely a pain free, stress free software system that even my technologically challenged mother breezes through.

Lastly (for now) I love what is actually on the watch. There are so many more options for things, already on the watch and not needed to additionally download. It's nice that while I'm biking, I can change the music I'm listening to and also increase or decrease the volume. As needed, you can turn off and on your notifications, from the actual watch. And the FitStar mini workouts are great ideas and instructions for how to mix things up. The touch screen seems to be a little more sensitive to my skin and will actually work when my hands get a little sweaty.

Just about the only thing I wish this had that my Garmin did is the ability to wear this while showering or swimming. Seems a little odd to not track water sports, but if that's the only downfall I find, I'll take it!
