Better just bring it all.
The Fishpond Bighorn Kit Bag doubles as a boat bag and gear hauler thanks to a versatile design that will carry everything from fly boxes, reels, and tying gear to waders, boots, and extra layers. The large anvil-style opening grants easy access to the main compartment, and the internal padded dividers allow you to keep all of your various fly fishing equipment secure and organized during a long travel day. The front of the bag is fitted with two front pockets, while the sides and back are also equipped with zippered stashes for quick access to small accessories like extra lengths of leader and dry shake or a small rain jacket and sunglasses.

- Familiarity: I've used it several times
This pack looks relatively small in person, but once you start filling it you realize how much gear this can hold (it had that Patagonia Black Hole-type feeling the first time I packed it). Main compartment is anvil style and comes with internal dividers for organizing your gear. 2 full length side pockets and 2 end pockets, plus 1 dedicated set of loops for a rod and I improvised and use the buckles on the other side. This is what i've fit in it so far, all at once: waders, 4 fly boxes, 2 reels, 2 days worth of clothes including not-the-most-packable hoodie, patagonia nanopuff, bottle of liquor, toiletries, fishing lanyard + extra accessories, snacks. Like I said, it swallows gear without being an obnoxiously large bag. Perfect for long wknds or even longer if you pack light and efficient. Got it as a gift and would definitely recommend.
One of the best kit bags available.
I had a complete set of fishpond luggage including the 'original' version of this kit bag. After years of faithful service and as an excuse to 'upgrade' my gear, I passed on my fishpond stuff to a friend getting into flyfishing. After a year, I've found that I keep yearning for the kit back and was pleased to find it on BC. The wide mouth opening moveble internal dividers makes finding everything easy. And for destination trips where you might want to whittle up a fly or two streamside--this kit bag has a hard surface divider that nests in the top of the bag nicely to serve as a little tying table for a portable pedestal vice when a flat surface isn't readily available (in a driftboat at lunch, bag on top of a cooler when in camp chair...). Waterproof...no. Simms, Sage or Patagucci Logo...no. But sized perfect for carryon when you can't afford for baggage goofs to loose hour precious fly fishing gear and can sit on your lap for easy rear seat roadtrip organizing (or tying) on your way to the Big Horn.
