Zip up skin tracks and tear down deep glades with the Fischer Watea 101 Alpine Ski; with its early rise tip and Powder Hull technology, you’ll float and slice through the snow like a ski boat through calm water. You are the captain of this mid-fat floatation device, which utilizes a pointed ‘hull’ beneath the early rise tip so you skim across the surface like a speedboat on a glassy lake.

  • The flat tail features an indented swallowtail shape that channels the frozen water behind you, creating a fast and fluid interaction with soft snow
  • When the powder settles, the wood core provides a sturdy but easy-turning platform to help you find leftovers
  • Early rise tip also prevents hooking and grabbing while skiing through crud and chopped powder
  • Traditional sidecut and medium turn radius suits aggressive skiers that weave in and out of the trees in search of powder
  • Two carbon fiber I-Beams run the length of the ski to provide a solid and smooth ride over less-than-perfect snow
  • Sandwich sidewall construction unifies the milled wood core between two ABS sidewalls for a medium flex that doesn’t feel like a wet noodle underfoot

Bottom Line: A solid, mid-fat powder ski that performs well in and out of the gates.

Hi I bought the 09/10 Watea 101 in 182cm, I am 6ft 210 pounds and getting onto advance skier. I took these to Japan and found them a bit big & burly at times, dont get me wrong in the pow or crud when you charge them hard they were awesome but in the trees when it got a bit tight or on the hard piste I found I had to drive them instead of enjoy skiing them.
My question / thought is, maybe my ability was not to a high enough level to enjoy the ski. I have K2 exporers and Bandit B3 before that and had no problems at any time enjoying them (both at 170cm).
Any thoughts? Did I purchase too long at 182cm

No way is it too long at your size. These are significantly stiffer than B3s or Explorers and are going to require more user input. They will reward good technique with much better control. Get centered and forward on them, don't let them ski you around. Mounting further forward could be helpful for you too.

My everyday ski

By:
February 3, 2011

I have the 09/10' model of this ski that has no rocker, normal camber. With that being said, I absolutely love this ski. I have the 182's mounted with Barons and use them for my everyday and touring ski. I have used them in as much as 8-10" of pow at Vail. They preformed great and were almost as fun as m Volkl Kuro's since they are smaller, more faceshots. The 'powder hull' gets lots of comments on the lift but honestly I am not sure if it is doing anything in terms of float performance.

Overall a great ski. Use them on the groomers, they rip so hard. Used them in my PSIA ski maneuver examinations and passed easily. Get em!

182 watea with TLT's

I was a little skeptical of this ski at first due to the weird nose (powder hull), but I've skied about ten days on it, and can't say a bad thing about it. It does float through crud, and it is a blast to turn. Highly recommend it!
