Faction Skis outfitted the Royale Ski with stiffer-than-usual tip and tail rocker for stomping deep landings and sailing smoothly through choppy conditions. Rather than going full-rocker, Faction gave the Royale a section of flat camber underfoot so you won't slide like a maniac on the hardpack. A lively poplar and birch core keeps things light for spinning off a backcountry booter all morning, and then flicking some quick turns through the trees on your way to the lodge for happy hour.

  • 15mm of tip and tail rocker over 300mm of length for ample float in the powder
  • Flat camber midsection with 901mm running length for added control on hardpack without returning to a fully traditional camber profile
  • Anti-chipping sidewalls and full-wrap one-piece edges for added durability
  • Twin mounting points give you plenty of options for choosing the ideal stance to match your skiing style

Bottom Line: Fight floppy rocker with beefier boards.

Pow Skiin'

Skiing in deep pow is the best but this ski has made it better. Super playful and landing are easy with a fat board under each foot. The tail being smaller than the rest of the ski makes it a lot easier to land switch in the pow. I would say for newschool pow skiing this is the ski you want to be on.

Agree with the other reviews. So lively it seems to bounce out of the snow and so forgiving it begs you to go big on that air spot. I really like the stiffness of the ski for busting crud and it will manage as well or better than any wider ski on hardpack. Definitely a different ski than a Hellbent or an EP pro. It's like the Line SFB on full strength, nut-shriveling, rage-inducing, male pattern baldness-causing anabolic steroids.

Royale with cheese

Unbeatable no compromise powder ski. These guys figured it out with no camber (so much better than reverse camber- can actually ski it and rip it in crud, on firmer snow and can traverse out of that canyon).
This ski has the biggest "sweet spot" that I've ever stepped/stomped on.. such a big balance point.. and while I do choose the 3 Zero in marginal and varied conditions over the Royale..I would reach for no other on the big dump days.. The Royale (with cheese) is a party and I need more before they're gone!
