Polaris Tent 2-Person 4-Season

Exped created the Polaris 2-Person 4-Season Tent to give alpine climbers and mountaineers every technical advantage when they venture into the high mountains. The Polaris Tent's 5lb 6oz weight easily makes the cut on large carry-over routes, and burly three-layer single-wall construction stands strong if you get pinned down in a brutal storm. Exped added an attached vestibule to provide out-of-the weather storage for your crampons, ice tools, and packs. This ultra-tough tent also comes with sliding pole tension pockets to help you set it up in seconds and get out of the weather.

Bottom Line: Alaska, Andes, Himalayas—if you're going big, bring the Exped Polaris Tent.

Does anyone have this tent? If so, how does it perform in adverse weather (ie. winter storms in the alpine)? How is the ventalation, is this tent usable during spring and summer without getting massive condensation?

Hi Rob,
I have owned this tent for a year now and have 22 nights in it. Used it on Mt Robson in 33 C heat on Mt Robson last summer without any trouble (it was warm, but not intolerable) and at -36 in the rockies this winter. Ventilation was good, but expect a light dusting of ice in the morning especially on calm nights below 0C.
My partner and I are both 5'10 160lbs and there is lots of room with winter gear (WM Bison/Puma bags - huge). The small rear vestibule is great, it gives the person whose head is on that side room for extra storage. We also occasionally used that as the cooking side with a small pit dug for an XGK when we didnt use a canister stove.
The 4th pole may be worth bringing along if you are expecting heavy snow load (ie Alaska) but here in the Rockies even in high wind the guy lines are superb and hold the tent walls out just fine.
Setup is super easy with the pole sleeves. In situations with high winds we would set the packs on top of the tent as one threaded the poles and the other dug a couple t-slots for stakes. This can be done with the tent laying flat until the last minute, and takes about 5 minutes with winter gear. In summer conditions the tent is up and staked in about 3 minutes once it is out of the pack.
Everything about this tent speaks for it's design quality. Regarding condensation, be smart and pitch the tent into the wind so you get airflow through it. Whether winter or summer leave the front and rear door unzipped a bit with the mesh in place and airflow is great while keeping spindrift and bugs out. My only complaint is that there is no zipper in the floor for clearing snow out (I'm very fastidious and clean all snow of pant zippers etc). This really is a small issue though. The color is great, very invigorating when you wake up in the morning, but pleasant for an afternoon nap.
Hope this answers your questions.
I should also clarify that this tent has only been used in the Eastern Canadian Rockies, which is not an area known for excessive humidity. I cannot comment on how it might perform in the PNW.

In China, where everything else is made. If you are asking where it is designed, that would be Switzerland. Outdoor Research is just the distributor of Exped stuff for the US.Hope that helps, the poles are DAC and those are made in Korea, but DAC literally makes the best anodized aluminum tent poles on the market, that is why so many manufactures use them for their poles.
