Durable, wonderfully lightweight, very comfortable, dries fast, near perfect craftsmanship, great color (I ordered cigar, don't smoke'um) but one drawback for me: the water repellent ingredient is teflon. Guess they soak the material in vats. Hoooowever, a great pant! But I'm wondering these days how green the outdoor industry is? Maybe they could make same great pant but recommend treating the pant with nikwax for water repellency instead of using teflon. Another choice is to wear shorts and set up a tent or put on raingear when inclimate weather rolls in. It just means taking rain and getting a little wet, in stride --as a part of hiking or trekking. That's how I learned over fifty years ago and it's a good lesson to consider today . So although these are great pants I won't be reordering them or recommend them.

Thanks for the great comments! I am the rep for ExOfficio in Colorado and I couldn't agree more with you conservation comments. Please know the ExOfficio and many, many companies in the outdoor industry take these issues very seriously and work with the suppliers to reduce waste, meet environmental and workplace standards we enjoy in this country. The reason for the teflon or repel off treatments is to help prevent staining and for some water resistance. You are totally right, if it is raining put on rain pants. But if you spill coffee, wine, or get blood on your new pants and you are on a month long trip, you probably will want to come out. That is what they are trying to achieve with the treatments - longer life of the product = less waste. Not a perfect system for sure, but moving everyday in the right direction. Hope this helps!

I am 100 percent satisfied with every aspect of these pants. They are the most comfortable pair of pants I've ever owned. I will certainly be buying more.

These pants were purchased for their light weight, quick dry and general utility for desert hiking. Enough pockets - barely!

I got these recently and just finished a four day packpacking trip in the Uintas. I used these as my day-time bottom layer on top of compression shorts. When it was hot I rolled them up capri style, but for the most part it was cooler/raining so I kept them rolled down. Material was extremely light, soft, quick-drying, and bug-proof which made wearing them awesome. Range of motion was slightly limited when wearing them capri-style but it was acceptable, and worth not having to bring shorts and feeling like I wanted to switch between pants and shorts. At night I threw my thermal legging base layer under these and they worked great. I highly recommend these for any high alpine type hikes where you will see cooler temps. I wouldn't wear them in the desert as there's nothing better than shorts when its that hot out during the day. Smaller detail features like the super durable button, built in webbing belt, and many pocket options are icing on the cake. FYI, I'm 6'2" 210 lbs waist size 36 and I bought a size Large which fit just perfect with a bit of tightening on the built in belt.

Am I missing something in the description? From what material are these pants made?

It is 3oz nylon that has been mirco brushed to give it a soft feel, yet maintain a high level of durability.

Very happy with the fit. Length was just right for a guy standing 5' 7". Light weight comfortable with lots of pockets for storage. Thinking about buying another pair in lighter color.
