From mountain trails to sunny river banks to scorching deserts, the Ex Officio Women’s Nio Amphi Convertible Pant swiftly converts from pants to shorts when the temps change, and the lightweight nylon dries just as quickly. A UPF 30 rating protects you from harsh UV rays, and Ex Officio added a Repeloff water-resistant coating to beat back moisture and stains.

Bottom Line: Zip on, zip off.

The waistline is high enough to fit comfortably while low enough to meet current fashion (which is NOT a concern of mine). They ride high enough that my hipbones (and a belt) hold them up. Moisture beads up on the material and dries quickly. My only complaint is that the zippers on the pantlegs are not long enough that I can get the pant bottoms off while wearing hiking boots.

Do these pants sit on the waist and does the sizing run small?

Do these pants sit on the waist and does the sizing run small? I purchased North Face Horizon Valley Convertible Hiking pants in my size and they are very small. Will return but don't want to have another small pant sent. Please advise.

ExOfficio tends to run a bit larger than TnF. The Nio Amphi's should hit at about the top of the hip and below the belly button. Hope this helps!

Good fit and water resistant

My wife's pant sizes vary between 8 and 10. We bought the mediums and she loves them. She does wear a belt to help keep them close, but other than that she likes the fit, the location and size of the pockets, and that they shed water pretty quickly.

Anyone know if the waistline on these pants is any lower than the original "granny" amphi pant?

Very comfortable and flattering fit. The cargo pockets are on the front legs which makes for a nice figure flattering fit. My MH pants have pockets on the side of the thigh and it makes me look wider than I am. I am 5'9 and could stand for them to be a tad longer and only wish they had one zipper pocket on the back. The pants feel good and run true to size.

I'm also 5'9, taller in the legs than in the waist, so I generally need tall sizes and appreciate mid-rise rather than waist high. These pants fit nicely (true to size) up top as a mid-rise pant, but the ankles are a bit "high water" for me. With high-top boots, cold wash, no heat drying, and not sitting down (they ride above the ankles), I can get away with it, but I do wish they came a bit longer for us tall ladies!! Overall, nice pants though.

Like them so far!

Sizing was a bit inaccurate, so had to exchange for the right size, but once I had the right size they were fine. I agree with the other review that the waist is high enough to be comfortable (though I can't wait for "low-rise" to go out of fashion!). My only problem has to do with my height (5'2")--the legs are a bit long for me, but the elastic at the bottom of the legs does take care of the problem for the most part--they just look a bit baggy. Otherwise, I like the length of the shorts (not super short, like so many) and there are good pockets. The pants seem wind resistant, but cool and light. We'll see how well the rain resistance works on my walking/hiking holiday in Scotland at the end of this month! Thanks Backcountry.

Was the sizing a bit too large or a bit too small. I'm ordering these for my wife who is generally a medium so am wondering if I should get the size 8 or the size 10. Any feedback would be appreciated!!
