First, this fabric is incredible. It's the most buttery-soft micro suede. I own this vest in black, and just bought the acorn color on SAC--can't wait to get it! This is one of those pieces I wear to work when I just want to be comfy and wish I'd stayed in bed, although it's equally at home out and about on the town!
This vest may not be universally flattering, but I have no problem with the shape. I'm large chested, so I never buy down vests because I don't need a ton of extra padding up there! This vest is a bit more curve-hugging and not as puffy, which I like.
There is so much to love about this vest--the resilient and ultra-soft fabric, the numerous pockets, the removable hood. My only issue is the hood is huge on me (and I don't have a small head). Maybe my shoulder:neck:head ratio is off, but this vest rides a little high on my shoulders, so when the hood is up there's way too much fabric over my head. The hood flops off all the time. But that's a minor issue for me. The fabric is wonderful, it's a really interesting piece of clothing, and getting it for $32 on SAC can't be beat!

The interior is gray inside the black vest. The return policy is one of the best things about Backcountry.com. If it doesn't fit, isn't exactly what you wanted or you've had it for 30 years and it didn't live up to your expectations you can return it for a full refund, or for a replacement, whichever you prefer..... no questions asked!Hope that helps.

Because of the where the elastic is placed on this vest-- it flattened places that shouldn't be flattened and was very roomy at the waist, it had a wierd effect on one's appearance. Too bad, because the fabric is gorgeous!
