Perfect "fit" for my Africa trip

By:
April 8, 2010

Took 2 of these shirts to Kenya & southern Sudan, and they were perfect. In Sudan the temperature was above 100 degrees, and this shirt performed great! Moisture wicked away, no mosquito problem, light weight, UV protection, & plenty of pocket space. In Kenya the Halo Shirt was comfortable in the heat of day and cool of the evening. For the 9 day trip I took 2 Halo shirts, 2 Give-N-Go boxer briefs, and 2 pair of the Insect Shield Convertible pants. They are light weight and take up very little space in a back-pack. At night I washed the briefs and shirts by hand with my body soap and hung them on a hanger. The briefs were totally dry in 1.5-2 hrs and the shirts were dry, smelled fresh, and were ready to wear in the morning. I didn't try hand washing the pants - I'll have to try that sometime to see how fast they dry. The reason the shirt appears to sag in the front (in my picture) is that the pockets are loaded down with food & other stuff:).

Nice Shirt

Function and comfort are the two strong suits for this garment. Keeps you nice and cool in the heat,Is loose fitting enough to wear over a base layer when the temp drops.enourmous pockets with internal zipper are plus,Yes it did keep the bugs off me and i didnt have to grease up with repellent. wouldnt wear it for a night on the town but it will be my primary shirt for backpacking

Good to go

Used it for the first time on a Hailstorm Creek canoe trip in Algonquin. Fit was perfect and I watched yellow and black flies bother other people all day. I would get one "fly by" and the bugs wouldn't come near me. It was fairly warm out (80+ degrees) and I was never hot even when paddling hard.

Write your question here...My husband is going on a HH Boy Scout

Write your question here...My husband is going on a HH Boy Scout Adventure Hike in July in New Mexico.

I would like to find a "cover" hiking shirt that is "wicking" , SPR ,insect repellent and has "breathing vents" in the back of the shirt.

Would you please help me find if there is such a product?
THANKS!

if he is going to philmont, it is not going to be extremely hot it is going to be temperate and rainy. from my experience in philmont, the exofficio airstrip lite or mountain hardwear canyon shirt would be perfect. also, forget the insect repellent stuff, there are no bugs at philmont. just deer crap, rocks and burnt trees.

Well made. The snap closures instead of buttons work well. Nice zippered chect pockets. Repels bugs as claimed. Is now my standard "bug time" shirt. Only downside is sleeve length is a little short. Highly recommended.

Halo shirt

By:

Excellent garment, and it appears to keep bugs and uv away. Comfortable - especially with something underneath to wick the sweat away, and reasonable appearance after drip drying. Shows wet marks, but dries very quickly. Felt a bit slimy without undergarment.
