Description

One heck of a sabbatical.

From November to January, you'll be stationed at a research station in Antarctica. From January to April, you'll be teaching abroad and presenting your findings to your colleagues at a foreign university. From May to August you'll be vacationing, traveling and researching in eastern Africa, and in September, you'll be back in your hometown coffee shop relating your experiences to anyone who'll listen. Along the way, the ExOfficio GeoTrek'r Long-Sleeve Shirt kept you comfortable and looking sharp everywhere you went.

6'5" and XL is decent

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I'm 6'5" 208 with broad shoulders and this shirt in an XL fits pretty well minus the chest being a little loose. May have a few darts thrown in the back to slim the fit cause it's a cool shirt. Else, the sleeves are decent length for my arms. I think the sleeves on the L would be too short for me. There's an inch difference betwen the sleeves on the L and XL.

Excellent shirt

Ex Officio makes fantastic travel and outdoor shirts. Across their line, there's not a shirt that doesn't perform its intended use. Unfortunately, Ex Officio also has a propensity to add pockets, vents, and other 'pieces of flair,' and you end up looking like a safari wannabe every time you step outside. That's how I ended up with this shirt. It's simple, there's not a lot of extra stuff happening with it (aside from the zippered napoleon pocket), and it looks nice. For me, this truly is the ultimate travel/hiking/paddling/living outside shirt. The sleeves roll up easily, the pocket is extremely functional, if a bit unnecessary ( I would have preferred a single or double button-through pocket), and the collar flips up to give you some protection from the sun. All that, and it looks good enough that you aren't immediately pegged as being on an ADVENTURE when you walk into the restaurant or grocery store.
