    FANTASTIC PRODUCT!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

Back in the late summer, me and my son went on a 2 week long 70+ mile backpacking/hiking/camping trip to Philmont near Cimarron, NM. Having never been before, I asked others who've been for advice on what to pack. One suggestion that I was given several times was to make sure and pack the right KIND of underwear.

I'm 36 years old and have worn plain white cotton briefs my entire life and nothing else. Even when boxers and boxer briefs grew in popularity, I've always stuck to wearing briefs and really like the way they look and feel as well as the comfort and support they provide. And even though my son is 14 years old and in high school, he still prefers wearing white cotton briefs as well. I also don't find it necessary to spend a lot on underwear, so a typical purchase involves multi-packs of white Hanes (for me) and Fruit of the Loom (for my son) briefs from Walmart or Target. So seeing as neither of us have never owned or worn anything but plain white cotton briefs, I wasn't sure what it meant to pack the right KIND of underwear. When I asked what I should look for, I was told to "buy ExOfficio briefs". So when making some last minute purchases for the trip, I looked around and finally found 6 packages of these ExOfficio briefs in solid white...3 each for my son and myself. When we got home, I threw mine in to be washed without trying them on but my son tried his on and seemed very happy with how they fit and felt. He even commented about how soft they were and that they looked and fit just like the white briefs he normally wears...except that they were "cooler" and more airy.

Once we were on the trail at Philmont, I was equally impressed with how well they seemed to hold up, along with the fact they wicked away sweat very well and stayed dry all day long despite sweating a lot. But probably the best thing about them is that they helped to prevent any chafing or discomfort in our private areas that many of the other boys and adult leaders had to deal with. With a group of nine teenage boys ranging in ages from 13 to 15, there wasn't really any diversity in their choice of underwear, so all of them (with the exception of my son) had only brought what they usually wear...plain white 100% cotton briefs, or "tighty whities" to use a more accurate term. At the end of the day, me and my son were able to wash out our ExOfficio briefs with bear-proof soap and allow them to quickly dry, but the other boys and adult leaders had to construct a makeshift clothes line from which to hang out their tighty whities to dry overnight. We had very few, if any, issues with these ExOfficio briefs doing exactly what they were designed to do and both of us were very happy that we'd brought them with us.

Since they are somewhat pricey, I haven't had the need to purchase additional pairs and both me and my son usually stick with our regular Hanes or FOTL briefs for everyday wear. But at least after having bought pairs of these for the trip, we now have something to wear when going out for a run, hike or bike ride. These briefs really are a fantastic product and I'm glad they work so well.

Only Brief My Husband Now Wears

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL

Hubby says these are the only undies that he can wear while riding his Harley without chafing. He now wears them each and every day. He loves them especially when he can get them on sale.

    Best under where, period.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Size Bought: Medium

I have several pair of these and love them. Also tried other similar brands, but these are way better. Great when traveling, really. Comfortable, great fit and super easy to wash in hotel sink. Worth it.

    Boxers or Briefs

    • Fit: True to size

I have been wearing the boxers for years. I have tried other synthetic underwear, but ExOffico are the best. The legs on the boxers are quite baggy, not so good with tight jeans. I got the briefs and really like them. My big gripe with Tighty Whities is that the leg openings are so tight. the ExOfficio aren't too tight and have a soft band that does not dig in.

    ExOfficio Give-N-Go Brief

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

I have worn these briefs a few times and find them very comfortable. I still sweat in these on hot days but find they dry a lot quicker than regular cotton briefs. I am happy with this purchase and they were on sale too!!

    Better than expected

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

Regarding size: My waist is about 33, but I always buy and wear size 34 off the shelf, e.g., jeans, khakis, etc. I originally bought the size M brief, in accordance with the size chart. But, the size M brief was too small (although useable). I then ordered the size L and it's perfect in terms of size, style (cut), material and overall comfort..

    They're underwear, and they work.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I own two pairs of these and they are as advertised. They're underwear and they work - what else can you say?

The fabric is kind of mesh-like, resulting in chafing a few times on long, hot days. The heather color material in particular seems to be a little more coarse. I personally prefer the Capilene fabric in Patagonia's briefs as Capilene is a bit softer, but the Ex Officio product does work as advertised! They dry very quickly and tend not to retain stink. I've worn them for 3-4 days straight with good results.

    The only panties I wear

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I only wear ExOffico and own several pairs. They're the best. I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail wearing these. The only problems I've come across is that after a while the waistband gets stretched out from the spin cycle of the washing machine. If you handwash or use a delicate cycle it would eliminate this problem. The other issue is on the blue, grey, and green colors the groin area develops bleach patches. But, I believe this is from using a benzoyl peroxide based body wash.

    The best underwear ever!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

These are the best fitting underwear ever. I own 50 pairs and replace them as they wear out. They're NOT cotton. I have a big butt and they stretch to fit. They also are very supportive. I can't understand why anyone would wear boxer shorts? They have NO support. If you hate boxer shorts you'll LOVE this underwear brand.

Great fit, durable, still in service

I bought a few of these a few years ago, and they've been my choice ever since. I'll keep buying ExOfficio briefs even if some here are not very happy with the product; I like them.

Write your question here...I heard that...

Write your question here...I heard that there were fit problems with a "new model" in 2008; they went back to the "original" model in 2009..... and that the new model (improved) had "ex officio" all around on the upper band---which your picture doesn't show.

Is your product the 2008 version or the 2009 version?
