Pontas Climbing Shoe

With a design influenced by Chris Sharma, Evolv created the first signature-series climbing shoes, the Pontas. Chris needed a piece of precision footwear to send his deep water soloing project “Es Pontas,” and Evolv brought him the goods with a sticky TRAX XT-5 sole and a stretch-resistant Synthratek synthetic upper. The Pontas Climbing Shoe takes on the most technically demanding boulder problems and sport climbs with ease. And deep water soloing—it does that too.

Bottom Line: The Evolv Pontas Climbing Shoe—straight from Chris Sharma's mind to your feet.

I've climbed in Scarpa Mago, Five Ten Gallileo, quite a few others, bought this because it looks alot like a Five Ten Anasazi Velcro, when sized properly this this is great, if you're running through the rubber quickly.. learn how to climb and stop scraping your feet, this is an advanced shoe, while it doesn't have a downturned last, it's very firm and accuracy is a must. Good heel for hooking, evolv makes good low volume shoes, the synthetic leather is good because it doesn't strech at all, so sizing always stays true, unlike Sportiva, so pick your size cautiously. Yes, they stink, so what, they are a great shoe, and I'll crank on V7 all day with stinky shoes as long as they get the job done.

Well I had previously owned some Sportiva mythos, and Evolve evo's and was excited when the new Sharma models came out. First off I had a big problem with the sizing so I suggest going down a half size to a size (especially for bouldering) because the Pontas seem to run a little bigger than other Evolv shoes. After climbing for a while the fit of the shoes really shined and even when worn for hours they were still comfy and great for edging/smearing. but there is a downside.... these shoes reek to the max when worn after just a few sessions just like other Evolvs so beware! I tried everything from bounce sheets to air freshener and it just made it worse...

These shoes stink in many ways. The strap is coming off, They don't hold an edge, and they smell really bad. This shoe is a wast of money. The only positive thing is they are comfortable so if you don't climb and you just want to wear the around on the ground they could be your shoe.

Super sticky!

These are the best climbing shoes that I have ever had. They are super sticky and comfortable. They definitely run bigger than normal climbing shoes. I wear a Women's size 6.5 regular shoe and wear a 5 in the Pontas (men's sizing).

These shoes where good while they lasted (not long) the rubber wears through very fast and the strap broke off. I even bought them really tight, i wear a 12 street shoe and bought them in 9.5

pontas... good enough for "the king of kings"

By:

"pontas" the newest shoe in the Chris Sharma signature line from evolv is by far the best "new" pair of climbing shoes I have ever purchased, but that could be because I have never bought a new pair of climbing shoes before in my life. however it should go without saying: if they are good enough for Chris AKA "the king of kings" (dubbed thus by climbing magazine) then they are good enough for me!
