Great Climbing Shoe!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

I'm fairly new to indoor rock climbing and this is the first climbing shoe that I have ever purchased and I love them so far. They definitely run small though. I wear a US size 11 men's sneaker and a US size 11.5 men's running shoe. I sized up to a 12 in these and they fit almost perfectly. They did hurt quite a bit the first time I wore them but they either stretched out a bit or my feet got used to them because now they are great!

Runs Extremely Small

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

Shoes work well but I wear a 8.5 or 9 street shoe and need a size 11 of these. The backcountry.com rep recommended size 9 but I couldn't even fit my foot in that size, then I tried 10.5 and just barely too small.

Good Performer, Weak Rubber!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I loved the way these shoes performed on the rock. I bought these shoes 3 months ago and have been climbing on them 2, sometimes 3 times a week and the rubber has begun to tear on the toe area already. I have been cautious at placing my feet when i climb to reduce wear also.

Awesome website. great shoes

Great shoes. had to return them cause i sized down, as i usually do for climbing shoes. backcountry was awesome with their costumer service. I'll be buying all my gear here from now on just because of the awesome service i got. :)

Great shoe for thin face

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I got these shoes in size 12, which is the same as my running shoes, and they are so tight that I need to loosen them as soon as I've finished the route. I should have taken the advice of the Backcountry gear expert and bought a 12.5. But they are stretching out some with use. They stand on super thin holds, so much better than my other shoes that are comfortable and mostly used on slab and cracks. I really like the lacing design.

Great Shoe! I have a size 13 street shoe and I got the 13.5 and they fit perfect. They were a really tight at first but after I used them about 5 times the leather upper let the shoe conform to my foot for a perfect fit. Great for vertical and overhanging and my heel feels very secure which makes for nice heel hooking. I am probably going to get another pair of these with the velcro.

AWESOME SHOE THAT DOES IT ALL!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My review goes with using these shoes as a performance shoe, not an all day shoe. The Geshido Lace Up is one of the best all around shoes I've ever worn in over 20 years of climbing! Excelling on all types of climbing from super thin slab, gnarly cracks, steep faces, and overhangs. Laces allow for precision fit. I wear a size 10 street shoe. My Geshidos are size 9.5. I sized them to be more tight for performance. The first few days were a painful break in, but they are leather and once the stretched they fit like a glove! My pinkie toes hated me the most, but after break in everything is great. I can wear them for 30 min. or so before I want them off for a minute. YOU CANNOT simply compare to other Evolvs for sizing! I wear a pair of Pontas Lace ups as one of my looser fitting all day multi pitch shoes and they are size 9.5 too, but far more roomier. If your looking for a more loose fit it seems they still perform well according to other reviews. The "love bump" is cool, but after many great days climbing I managed to pretty much make it disappear in one shoe. Didn't even notice, still work awesome! The original rubber sticks well and last long (assuming you don't have horrible footwork). Mine have been resoled with C4 after tons of climbing (Rock & Resole doesn't do Trax) and they perform wonderfully. LOVE THIS SHOE!

As other people have said, this shoe does run fairly small. I sized up a full size from my regular street shoe. However, I am not one of those climbers that prefers the smallest shoe you can fit your foot in. If you like them tighter, try a half size up.
Other than that, it's a very grippy and versatile climbing shoe.

Size 8 men fits women size 8

I tried these on in a store and loved the fit, but they didn't have my size. Comfortable for an aggressive shoe. I'd say they run a size and a half small. I ordered the 8 and I am a womans 8. Shipping was so fast.

They don't make my size!

Based on some of the reviews below, I tried to go with a 13.5, the largest size they have, but just couldn't make them work. They seem like nice shoes, just wish they made them in 14. It's tough to find good climbing shoes for us large-footed individuals. Sigh. If you are 14 or above in climbing shoe size, go with Tenaya. I have the Ra's and the Masai's, both are excellent.

Great Shoe

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had the lace ups for a year now. They held up great, from climbing indoor at least once a week and outdoor at the RRG, the NRG, and Yosemite. Dig the feel of shoe, I can wear them for hours with no pain, along with the performance on edges and heel hooking. The only downside is they got pretty stinky. I ended up washing them which helped.

Big Foot

I wear a 11 street shoe and 11.5 in evolv climbing shoes ( I have 2 pair of evolv's) but I had to go with a 12 for the geshido lace up. Once I got the sizing worked out the shoe is great, five stars all the way. Good for everything from trad to sport to the gym. Just remember to size up a bit and you'll love 'em. And they are made in the USA!

Run smaller than Velcros

Got a pair of the Velcros, which I like. If they gave a little more room for my pinkie toe I would love them.

So I thought I'd size up when I got these to have a more comfortable pair. Well, I'm a size 9 street shoes, and I had a size 8.5 in the the velcros, so I ordered a 9 in the lace-ups. No dice, too small to be comfortable. They felt tighter than the 8.5s in the velcro. So I send them back for a 9.5. Again, no luck. This time, the left feels really good, but the right foot feels too big. This is odd, because like most people, my left foot is bigger. I compared the two side by side, and sure enough, the right one is about a 1/4" longer than the left one. Grrr. Oh well. I'll be sending these back as well, but I don't think I'll be going with evolv again, at least not online.

Crack Fiends

Sometimes changing the shoe really makes the difference, and these definitely did for me for one specific thin crack I was working on! The rubber is soft and adapts to fissures well, and the lace fit allows for precision tightening to get the best fit. Quality and very sensitive shoe!

pretty versatile

I love this shoe! So good for edging, and if you size up a little, it's amazing for cracks too! I have it in two sizes, tight and floppy, and love to wear one of each on harder Indian Creek routes. It breaks in really well...I can wear my tighter ones all day long....definitely always recommend it for people who only want to climb in one shoe!
