Forte SQ 2XT Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

The Eureka SQ 2XT 3-Season Tent sleeps two people comfortably and has one of the strongest aluminum frames ever put into a small lightweight backpacking tent. The full-coverage fly protects against bad weather, and a large front vestibule storage and smaller rear vestibule storage provide a dry place to keep your pack, without crowding your sleeping space. A new extended ridge pole provides more interior space, which makes spending a downpour-of-a-day in the tent less painful. And Eureka’s standard pin-and-ring, pole-to-body, connection is fast, simple, and reliable, so setup is a cinch.

Bottom Line: Make setting up camp a pain-free experience with the Eureka Forte SQ 2XT 2-Person Tent.

Just bought a Forte sq 2xt. The spreader pole is REALLY tight. Does it need to be that tight? I had all I could do to set it up. Thinking of having it cut a 1/4". Good idea?

Great Backpacking Tent

At first glance, the pole system seems too time consuming for quick set up however; after setting it up once in the backyard before my first trip into the Three Sisters Wilderness Area, it proved to be quite simple. I set it up in the dark on my first night out. Some tents might weigh less but, I doubt that they could weather inclement conditions as well as this tent.

The dimensions are very similar to most the 2-person tent's out there. My 2-person tent has practically the same height and width, which is close quarters, but is comfortable and what you'd expect when backpacking.

I wasn't able to find any information on the back of this tent, so hopefully someone else can find that out for you.

I'm looking for a light weight tent and was convinced on

I'm looking for a light weight tent and was convinced on the Light Wedge or Light Path, but heard from a couple people that the poles are WEAK. How can be assured the poles on this tent aren't weak or weaker?

The diameter of the poles for the Forte is twice that of your average backpacking tent, though that says nothing regarding the thickness of the aluminum, they seem to be sufficiently beefy. Also, comparing Kelty to Mountain Hardwear is like comparing Saturn to Ferrari...just saying, easy choice most of the time, your paying for quality, reliability and a good warranty.

The Kelty uses DAC DA17 aluminum. It's a bit thicker, and therefore a bit heavier. The MHW tents use a lighter (approx 15%) Atlas 7001 aluminum. A little beefier set of poles, but more weight with the DACs. There's the trade off. Another thing to consider is warranty. Kelty offers 1 year, whereas MHW is lifetime. Break a pole during normal use...ever, and they send you a new one, or quickly make the repairs for you. Hope that helped you out.
