If you're running an e.13 single-speed-specific crankset but need the versatility of a granny gear,  the e.thirteen Shiftring Kit is the answer. The Shiftring Kit mounts on any crankset with a 4-bolt, 104-millimeter BCD pattern, and the crank pin is removable if you want to slap a bashguard on the outside.

Would I also need a front derailleur to run this setup? I have a single speed e.13 setup upfront right now. I guess all i'm asking is how does this thing work?

Responded on

Yes, you still need a derailleur. The Shiftring kit just allows you to use with cranks that do not have inner chainring tabs. Instead, one ring mounts to the other ring. The end function is the same and requires a derailleur and shifter to actually switch gears.
