Boost the volume.
We haven't been shy about declaring a bit of love for the standard version of ENVE's M60 Forty HV 29in Boost Wheelset, but that love is well-earned. It has proven itself as one of the ideal wheelsets for everything from grinding climbs to gnarly descents at speeds normally reserved for race day. The HV version blows up the internal rim with from 23 to 26mm and widens the hubs to the new 110/148 Boost standard to most effectively pair with tires between 2.3 and 2.4in wide. The extra tire volume and stiffness afforded by the additional width make the M60 Forty HV wheels the ideal set of hoops for fast all-mountain or faster XC racing.
The M60 Forty HV model still targets the space between XC and all-mountain rims with a blend of lightweight speed and big-hit durability that covers the majority of off-road riding. The HV model weighs a bit more than the standard iteration, but it's still among the lightest wheels we'd pair with a five-inch travel bike. The redesigned, hook-less bead is both lighter and more impact resistant than a standard, hooked bead, and the extra width allows for higher tire volume, increasing cornering stability and putting more rubber on the ground at any given time.
As with all of its wheels, the M60 Forty HVs feature ENVE's Smart system to create a strong, stable wheel for any conditions. A patented process of molding in-spoke holes, nipple seats, and valve stem holes is largely responsible for ENVE's proven reputation of creating wheels boasting the highest strength-to-weight ratio available in the industry. ENVE routes the carbon fibers around each hole to maintain continuous fiber integrity, which results in both increased rim rigidity and lower weight at the spoke face.
When laced to a hub, this system facilitates higher and more uniform spoke tension than standard bladder molding. Additionally, ENVE uses a process that removes the inner bladder during the molding process, resulting in lower weight compared to the many composite manufacturers who leave the rim-shaping, inflatable bladder in the rim once the wheel is complete. While the removal process takes time and added expense, it results in a lighter rim and a perfectly tensioned wheel build.
While the rim tells most of the story, two other facts are worth stating. First, the wheels are hand built in Utah to exacting standards for the longevity you’d expect out of a class-leading wheel system. Second, those big, bruising, Boost hubs make for stiffer tracking up front and yet more improvements to responsiveness out back. These wheels are almost never caught on the back foot, even while climbing across rocks through steep switchbacks. The small engagement angle of DT Swiss' star ratchet freewheel also helps clear rocky cruxes and makes for a wheelset that may very well outlast your next few frames.

Get ENVE'd out, I'm glad I did!
Somehow the engineers at ENVE have figured out a way to make their super stiff layups amazingly comfy. These rail the corners, cut out excessive vibrations, totally bomber! The wider inside dimension opens up your tires allowing for more/better grip, and lower pressure which further transforms your riding pleasure. I feel way more confident in descending at speed. Paired with DT Swiss Boost hubs is a match made in trail shredding heaven. Plus they are made in the good ole USA, which is always a bonus. ENVE's warranty is second to none. Pull the trigger on these bad boys...do it!

ENVE knocked it out of the park with the M60 Forty HV 29" wheels. Stiff enough to be pushed through rougher terrain while still proving to be light enough for race day. The HV option offers a wider internal width that helps increase tire volume and adds sidewall rigidity to your MTB tires.
What does this offer for the rider?
