The Torrent 10.5mm dry-treated rope from Edelweiss is the ideal all-arounder — the workhorse of cords. This rope also features Edelweiss' own special abrasion-resistant coating that they call Perdur, which has been shown to increase resistance to abrasion by up to 33%. At 70g/m this rope has a fantastic weight relative to its durability and diameter as compared to many other ropes. *Rope colors may vary.

Bottom Line: The all-around rope for everyman. . . and every budget.

Edelweiss Torrent - Strong

The Torrent, like all the other Edelweiss ropes I've used, is a great rope. It's heavy duty, and is probably best suited for longer trad routes, aid climbing, and big walls. It also would be good for sport if weight isn't a factor since it will hold a ton of whippers. I particular like using this rope for towers and walls when I need to jug, since the sheath seems to hold up to the abuse better then most other ropes.

Could I use this rope strictly for rappelling?

Doing us well so far!

I'm a beginner and this rope is the first rope I've ever purchased. Therefore I don't know a lot about rope. We used the rope for the first time in Jackson Falls, IL this past weekend and it served us well. We put in about 30 hours of climbing and it’s holding well. No signs of wear and it kept us from falling.

Great rope...with issues

By:

On just my first outing with this rope it really took some wear. We put it through top-roping, rappeling, and lead climbing(with some hard falls), and it came through perfectly on all accounts! The rope has the handling you would expect from a high end rope. Now the problem: it has a STRONG tendency to twist which makes coiling and even sometimes feeding the rope to a climber a PAIN! So, I would say as a dry rope for $150, Edelweiss has outdone themselves. I would recommend it to any beginning climber who doesn't mind taking a little time to wind a rope at the end of the day. But I would strongly consider a different rope (Mammut maybe) for serious lead climbers or those on multi-pitch routes. However, since I am a lead climber I am going to have say this rope is average.
