I've been using these for over a year now and they have been great and have held up wonderfully. I've noticed one more thing with these ropes having climbed on partners doubles and twins several times now. These seem to be both "slippery" enough with the dry coating as well as "thick"enough to not get hung up anywhere near as badly as my partners lighter and thinner twins and doubles. On a recent trip to Red Rock these did not get hung up on a single pull while my partners twins hung up litteraly on every single pull.

After 20 years of climbing I can say that I prefer Mammut and Edelweiss ropes for their superior handling, long life, and excellent craftsmanship. I use this on longer alpine and rock routes that require double rope rappels or that wander. I like being able to use as either a twin or a double. These have seen some miles and are holding up very well.

Would this rope make a good alpine/mountaineering rope? I'm looking for a lightweight dry-treated single line to use on alpine climbs, glacier travel and summits.

Wow, you just described what this rope was bred for... it does great under heavy use and the everdry core is feakin' nice. Pretty lightweight top

I don't know if it's a half, twin or double, but it's not a single. I don't think there are any single ropes smaller than 8.9mm

It is a double rope (also known as a half rope because of the 1/2 marking on the tag).

It's actually rated for both twin and double use.

Are you sure it's dual-rated? The Edelweiss website seems to indicate it's only rated for double usage.

I'm looking for a double that will hold up better than my current ropes. How does the sheath hold up on these? Do they get all fuzzy easily or do they hold up pretty well?

Yes. In my experience Edelweiss and Mammut ropes far outlast others.
