The Eagle Creek Search Alert Lock is Travel Sentry certified, so airport security personnel don't need to cut your locks or damage your luggage if they choose to search it. They can simply unlock, relock, and send your bags on their way. The SearchAlert window lets you see whether your lock has been opened, and the die cast zinc body, steel shackle, and three-dial combination will keep everyone else out of your stuff.

Bottom Line: If airport security searches your luggage, it could be damaged. Protect your bag and your belongings with the Eagle Creek Search Alert Lock.

my lock is open and I don't remember my number code, so can't get the shackle to go up far enough to get it to the position to reset my code.

1
Line up the numbers on the face of the lock to the default code of 0-0-0.

2
Turn the shackle 90 degrees to the left. You will have moved the shackle from the six o'clock position on a clock to the nine o'clock position.

3
Press the shackle down and move it from the nine o'clock position to the seven o'clock position. Hold the shackle down in this position.

4
Turn the three numbers on the lock to your chosen combination.

5
Turn the shackle back to the nine o'clock position and pull the shackle all the way up. Turn the shackle back to its starting position and lock the lock.

You can't reset them unless they're open. You might bring them by a TSA person to have them open the locks for you - that way you can reset them to a combo you'll remember.

Time to pony up the ten bones for a new one. Cut the old one off. Eagle Creek may be able to help, but I am guessing that not having the combo will make things look a little suspicious. Try giving them a call.
