No more forgetting things!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

First off, I hate packing! I usually just stuff things in a bag, and often times I'm so unorganized I forget major items. I recently got these cubes to take backpacking and they kept everything in place.

The large cube packed the majority of my clothes (2 pants, 4 shirts, shorts, and a hat) and there was room for probably 2-3 more items. The medium cube fit all of my toiletries (I tend to have a lot and probably could have fit them in the small cube.) The small cube fit 3 pairs of wool socks and a few undies.

These cubes help me organize, but more importantly, they help me remember all of my items. For backpacking, they make everything easy to find and keep things in order when tearing apart your pack.

A new essential in my backpacking collection.

better than a stuff sack

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I like to pack in multiple stuff sacks to help keep things organized on trips. I seem to break the toggle on all my stuff sacks, and personally I prefer the zipper over the drawstring in general.

Love the lightweight fabric and the rectangular shape of these makes packing them even easier (vs traditional rounded stuff sacks) to pack within a larger duffel.

I bought the set before a recent trip, and have since bought a 2nd set. I will probably get more. And it's nice to have multiple color options to help you differentiate from one cube's contents to the next.

Perfect for travel

Perfect for travel

I used these when going to FL on a gull research trip. Lots of gear and ample clothes for the variable temps was needed. Fortunately these cubes added next to no weight but kept me nice and organized. Using the suitcase for dirty laundry, it filled up with about half of what is in the cubes! They help you roll, fold, and keep it all together. Love these things.

Ultra Lightweight

I never used packing cubes because I pack ultralight and I find it silly to put bags inside my bag. I gave these a try because they're so stinking lightweight and they're perfect. You can't even tell they're in your pack EXCEPT for the fact that your bag's contents aren't shifting around as much and you can pack them closer to your back for better weight distribution. I use the Full size one for literally all of my clothes except what I am currently wearing, I then pack my toiletries, PackTowl and the like in the others and put those inside the Big one. Yes, I fit all of my clothes and toiletries into one Full Size Specter Packing Cube. All that's left in my pack get's put farthest from my body, with this as a padding between me and the rest of the contents. It acts as a great back padding (if full of clothes) as well as a good way to distribute the weight in your pack well. Before the heft of my pack was at the bottom. This is not ideal. With these the heft of my pack is now closest to my body and up higher as well. This alone will make your pack feel lighter and more well-balanced.
Packing with these is simply a tool. You can pack smart of foolishly with packing cubes. The bonus of these is that they are an awesome tool for: 1.) Weight distribution 2.)being ultra lightweight 3.)sliding in and out of the bag more easily than trying to dig for individual items, and 4.) I like the added layer of water resistance and cleanliness of these over mesh bags.
Overall I am extremely pleased with these Specter Packing Cubes and intend to highly recommend them to anyone who travels.

Keeps everything organized!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I initially bought one cube set for my upcoming 5 month trip to India but after test driving it on a one week trip to Florida, I knew I had to buy another set. I've been able to pack so much in these cubes. They compress so well and are extremely lightweight. And when you are packing for an extended time like I was, you need to keep your luggage organized or else you'll go crazy! Along with the Eagle Creek folders, I was able to keep all my clothes wrinkle free and organized until I was able to unpack. I just wish I had found these earlier!

Gets the job done

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This cube set is pretty handy for travel. Keeps things organized without adding any bulk. These cubes are essentially weightless without anything in them. I like to be organized and these made it very easy. Misc items in the smallest bag. Socks and underwear in the medium size bag, and swim trunks, towel, flip flops, sunscreen all in the larger one. The white/red and white/green are fairly see through so you can see what is in them without opening them. Highly recommended for travel.

Light as a feather

I am a follower of the Boy Scout slogan "be prepared" and after reading a little bit from Lou Dawson, I've learned that "...for anything" should follow the above when dealing with alpine touring. So I've worked on an "oh **** kit" for a few years now. It changes a bit here and there, but for the most part it's whatever i need to get my bindings back in order, a fire started, or a light, signal, etc.
I've had everything from a whiskey bag to a zip lock bag. When I stumbled on these, I was set. The silnylon is plenty strong enough for something that sits in a pocket and goes forgotten. The 2/3 zip around the top and side opens the bag up nicely for inspection of its contents without spilling everything. I use the smallest of the set for my base kit and add that bag to a larger one if additional tools are needed.
