Who needs a quiver of skis when you have the Dynastar Legend Sultan 94 Ski? The all-new Sultan 94 combines a wide, stable platform, rockered tip, and vertical sidewalls to create the ultimate all-mountain ripping machine.
The wood core 3D construction makes for a lighter, versatile, and stable ski that powers you through tight tree-lines and wide open powder bowls
Race department vertical sidewalls provide grip and balance on hardpack and dicey terrain
A slow rise rocker enables you to float in powder and bust through crud, and is easy to maneuver in steep, technical terrain
what do you think, this or the the Atomic snoop? Aggressive adv. expert skier looking to charge powder and crud though will happily ski groomers for a few hours if nothing else is available.
This is a terrific all mountain all condition ski for mid level skiers. It's light weight, easy to turn, floats in the powder and will hold firm on ice. If you are looking to go really fast this ski might not have enough for you and you will want to try a legend pro.
I'm thinking of putting a marker baron binding on this and using it four backcountry touring with my downhill boot. Want something for pretty much most conditions. Asuming that makes sense not sure if 172 or 178 is the right length. I am 5ft 11 and 85kg and want to be able to manouver fast in trees and steeps. Advanced not expert. Any wise counsel out there?
For my short radius tree skis, I ride a 175 to 185, and I'm 6'1 and 210. You will get a lot of people out there say that you should have longer, but I find that if you're riding traditionally camber skis, shorter is better for the trees -- it's less swing weight and easier to hop around obstacles. I have Black Diamond Kilowatts (95 underfoot) with traditional camber and Fritschi's, but I use an AT boot. They work fine in the trees and are actually quite a bit of fun on the hardpack.

Andrew is right. This ski is smoother and more forgiving than the sc97. It's a great all mountain ski. If you are looking to charge hard you might find the limit with this ski. If you are more of an intermediate skier this is a great ski for you.
Steve- They are built to be similar skis. I think that the sultan is easier and smoother to ski while the sc97 has a little bit more aggressive feel to it. The rossi is a better crud ski/charge, but the dynastar is fantastically smooth and fun.
I have skied the Sultan 85's and these are every bit as good carving only better Off Piste. That being said if I were to be skiing a lot of groomers I would want something smaller underfoot. If I had any complaints these skis could be more stable at speed (I have 178cm) and they are not a fast ski. Nice graphics on this entire line are a plus.
I skied these on cold packed powder on some groomed slopes, the skis did fine. In crusty snow, the skis did great, I just wish I was a better skier to evaluate the powder capabilities. I ran thru some powder and they seemed to float reasonably well.
I´m looking for an all-mountain ski that delivers stability at speed in groomers and maneuvrability in non blue courses (trees, bumps, crud and park) Is this the one all-arounder?
This is a good all mountain intermediate ski. it will handle most situations with ease. If you are looking to charge hard you will find it limit. It is very forgiving and can get soft if you work it too hard.
I think these are a great 1SQ. They took me a little while to get used to but I am enjoying them. I have skied about 12 times this season which has produced some great pow days. I have spent a couple full days with my wife on groomers and they are great. My only complaint is they are not a fast ski and could be more stable at speed. I have the 178 so maybe a longer ski would be more stable?
I had a shop mount my binding onto my legend 94, 178 cm and they are set back more than my Dynastar ski cross 178 cm. I was surprised to see this. Is it typical to mount binding back of center on the Legend 94? I would like more information on binding placement.
You will get more of a ski and allow you to go faster with more stability if you mount the ski back of the center line. It's a skiers choice. Sometimes I mount skis behind the center line and sometimes in front of the center line depending on what I want out of the ski.
