A brawny wood core and 55mm of tip rocker gives the Dynastar Legend Pro Rider 115 Ski the chops it needs to pillage stashes of powder and burn down burly lines. Stuff the fat tip deep into the freshness and feel the powerful flex as the Pro surfaces quickly. Top and bottom layers of Titanal mean nigh-unshakable stability at full throttle and full-length vertical sidewalls add a measure of race-bred edge grip. Outside the slack-country gates or hammering out tram laps this beast treats you to a versatile, big-mountain ride like none other.

Bottom Line: Cleaning house on butt-clenchingly monsterous lines never felt so right.

Great Ski

This is a great all mountain ski...and an exceptions powder ski. New to the Dynastar line the ski has a fair bit of tip rocker and is 115 under foot. The wood core makes the ski stand up to choppy conditions and you can also arc turns on groomers. Try this ski out...you will not be disappointed.

The ski is significantly lighter than the XXL. There is a huge difference in weight between the 2 skis.

how stable are these skis when carving in variable snow / hardpack conditions? also, how is the flex softer than the old xxl's when they still have 2 sheets of metal in them? is it just the tip rocker that makes them feel softer?

This ski is much lighter and easy to ski than the XXL. The 2 skis are very different. The 115 has a significantly softer tip. It is a more playful and forgiving than the XXL.

Just wondering about how much this ski weighs...the Dynastar website says 1900g, which seems absolutely ridiculous considering how much the XXLs used to weigh (about 2500g+ per ski).

im looking to buy either this ski or the pro xxl, what are the major differences between the two? also im worried that the 115 wont perform as well on groomers and crud, is there any truth to this?

I like the Pro XXL more, but I like stiffer skis, I feel that Dynastar messed with this ski in the wrong way on designing the so-called, improved version Pro Rider 115. The XXL is one of best fat skis ever made. All they had to do was keep the stiffness, but add some rocker to it. The Pro Rider 115 is not as tough as the Pro XXL, that ski you could ride into gnarly terrain & you could depend on it. I feel Dynastar dropped the ball on this ski, it could have been so much better.

I'm not a fan of the newer lighter, meduim flex version.

The XXL was stiffer than this ski. It performed better in really choppy stuff. The 115 is still good, but a little more forgiving. As for groomer performance, there is a trade off after about the 100mm. You can still arc awesome turns they just wont be short slalom turns. For me, that is no big deal.

Great Ski!

I got the chance to use this ski in AK, Squaw, Mammoth, Snowbird and in the Tahoe Back country and it absolutely rips. It is surprisingly nimble and quick when u need it to be but can rip huge lines going fast as well. Its a great versatile powder ski that you can use elsewhere. I highly recommend this ski. A must for your big mountain quiver!

Glad to hear that it's nimble because the Dynastar rep in the YouTube video above says "it doesn't like to turn."???

how stable are these skis when carving in variable snow / hardpack conditions? also, i've heard that the flex is softer than the old xxl's. how is this possible if they still have 2 sheets of metal in them? is it possible that its just the tip rocker that makes them feel softer and easier to ski?

The flex is way softer and a much more manageable ski. It still holds up great in variable snow and hard pack but skis like a dream in soft snow!

This ski is as stable as a truck at speed, calm on hardpack, rolls over variable snow with ease but be careful with sharp dips as the tip upturn is minimal and the rocker very subtle. Flex is indeed much softer than XXL's, but they appear to have 2 sheets of titanal. The LPR 115 needs a lot of energy (or speed) to turn, possibly not the best choice for tight trees but money in wide open places.

This ski is very different from Dynastar other skis. They are forgiving an much softer than Dynastar quiver. You will enjoy these in most situations.

I'm looking to get a pair of these and mount them tele. They're not too stiff? Are they good in lots of situations, or just big 3D snow and wide open bowls?

What other skis have you liked for tele/what would you compare these to?

better than full rocker

By:
December 15, 2010

I tried out a lot of skis last year during a demo day at Alta. The conditions were chopped powder. This ski was easily my favorite. The rockered tip kept the the ski surfacing even when pushed down hard with forward lean. I could ski crud with the same style I would use for a frontside groomer. Stability at speed is solid.
