Could you give a newbie some advice? I'm a strong downhiller and have been skiing for decades. However, AT equipment is all new to me. I'm currently looking at Dynafit boots. Wonder if you could recommend a model for:
Male 50 something :-)
Would like to use for both in and out of bounds (60/40)
Unlikely to be doing long hikes
Can Tour boots work in downhill bindings too or restricted only to AT bindings? The thought is I'd like to use them with my downhill skis too.
Any advice would be great. Thank you!

Will these work with Marker touring bindings?
They will indeed, just be sure you are getting the right size Marker for the boot sole length of the Zzero you end up going with.
Light, stiff, ski well, sufficient cant so they don't need adjustments, easy to buckle with gloves, and wide enough so my toes aren't pinched and don't freeze. My only gripe is that, as with all ski boots I've ever tried, they are built like downhill boots, so if you fit them with toe room (which you need for longer tours), you end up having to pad the ankles and put in a thin insole to get a snug fit. Not a huge problem...

Please, can someone confirm last width for 28.5 boot ? Is it 106.8 as stated above ? That seems wide.
I have a 27.5 and forefoot is good for my 103 with thin socks. Without cooking the mid and hind foot is very tight. After cooking and an insole it worked for me great last season. Amazingly light and stiff.

Curious how this boot compares to the upcoming Vulcan? I know the Vulcan has the sweet TLT5 cuff lock, but will the two ski relatively similar? Both are about the same price so trying to find the right boot for my desires.
I have skiied both. The Vulcan is simply more boot. It has a beefier, alpine-style liner, more carbon, grillamid shell. The forward flex is similar, but the Vulcan has a more progressive, Alpine boot feel and more lateral power. All this for only 5 extra grams (27.5). Don't let the 3 buckles fool you. Hoji and Dynafit have created the ultimate Freeride touring boot.
How does the Vulcan fit compare to the Zzero or the Titan? Are the lasts similar? The titan fits me well. Man the Zzero has an awesome hold on the heel, is the Vulcan fit like that?
The last shape is essentially the same for the Titan, Zzero and the Vulcan. Overall fit may vary a bit as the liners are different. Pre-production versions of the Vulcan had a VERY tight heel pocket. That will be loosened, but it will still be a solid fit.

The smallest size for the Green Machine is 25.0 Those are available. At present, there are no plans to make this in a smaller size.

Am I nuts or does the Dynafit website have these listed as lighter than the Titan Ultra Light, and here they are heavier. Any info on how the two boots compare? What the gain in the green machine for another 130$?
Brad, you are not nuts. BC has the specs wrong. The Green Machine should be listed as 3lb 7.9oz (converted from 1585gr). The gain/difference with the Titan UL: full carbon cuff-amazing lateral support/stiffness, lighter weight, greater cuff rotation-easier touring. Not necessarily a "gain", but the Green Machine last is 2mm wider so it may fit you better. Essentially, the Titan UL is the best-in-class for side-country and the Green Machine is the same for power turns in the backcountry. The Titan does have the ability to change soles for alpine bindings if that's your pleasure.

How much stiffer is this version of the green machine compared to last years? Does the all carbon cuff make that much of a difference?
does not matter, it is ridiculous to see where they got the price. i used to buy good stuff ten years ago for 100-200$ and now it's 1000? seriously? does it come with a car? what else? as far as I'm concerned I'm done with the dynafit, they got too greedy, i'm sure there is a lot of good stuff there, just as good, for a fraction of the price. done with you, dinafyt, my first love, but you're not the same, you turned into a greedy monster!!!
Meme - I have to disagree. (Disclosure-I am the Rockies Dynafit rep) The new Green Machine is absolutely stiffer than the Zzero CT-F (last years Green machine). Most of the increase is in lateral stiffness, the kind that matters when driving a big ski at speed. Plus that increase comes with lighter overall weight and better cuff rotation for more comfortable touring. Unfortunately all this goodness does come at a price. Dynafit still makes great boots for under $600. That's less than most AT boots on the market. Don't give up on your first love!
Gotta agree with Sandy here. teh new boot really rocks. Buy it on sale if the cost is too steep for ya. But, I really like this boot. It skis like a premium dh race boot.
