A squirrely ski on mountain tours and mountaineering expeditions is not rad. Dynafit\222s Se7en Summits Touring Ski has a variable radius so you get stability on changing terrain and a bit of room for error when you make small miscalculations.
Wide sidecut in front and tight curvature in back for control no matter what the snow conditions
Steel inserts underfoot for solid edging
Paulownia wood with beech stringers keeps the ski light, strong, and earth-friendly
Biaxial carbon reinforcement in lower layer and Quadrax in upper for torsional stiffness and lateral reinforcement
SpeedSkinFix in the tip for sweet hold on the uphill and less skin-hassle during transitions
I like fat skis and shredding powder, but I have used this pair for many days this year and charged with them. They are narrow and made for ski mountaineering, but they can charge powder and steep lines. BUT they are not powder boards. A light powerful ski made for fast and light, multi-summit, long traverses and high altitude mountains.
Hey, is it possible to fit Marker Tour F10 bindings to these skis, or do the skis have pre-drilled holes (for Dynafit bindings) that prevent this? Thanks!
I've been skiing my 178 cm 7 summits (I'm 225 lbs) this spring and summer with both Zzero 4s and TLT5s--so easy, so quick edge to edge, and so dependable; very nice skis on firm snow even for a big guy; but for me, they dive in deep, light powder, so I bought Manaslus for that.

I'm 5'10" and 190lbs. I ski the Sierras (i.e. mostly heavy stuff, not many days of real pow, but enough deep stuff) and I'm coming into AT from a dedicated tele mode. I've got a Dynafit Zzero 3 C boot and am wary of getting too much ski for it. I'm having a hard time trying to pin down the best choice between the Manaslu, Mustagh ATA SL, and Se7en Summits -- not to mention the question of (model-dependent) length. I was leaning towards the Se7en Summits as an all-around good choice for peak bagging out here, but if I only have one set of boards, maybe a mid-fat would be better? Recommendations?
I'm using a pair of TLTPs and a 163cm 7/7. Wayt better than I thought it would be in all terrain. Any Dynafit ski is going to be good but nothing wrong with the narrow skis.
the manaslu will definitely be your best bet for a one ski touring set up in the sierra's. you will be much more happy with 95mm underfoot than 78mm. it is about 1LB heavier but any ski you buy from dynafit is gonna be plenty light. i would say either the 180 something length would be best for you. mount it up with a TLT vertical ST and you will have a killer set up!

This might be a mtn ski but it is super sticky on ice and great in trash snow as well as powder. Lots of good skis around and this is one of the better imo. When it comes to climbing or on the pack...nothing beats them short of a full race ski.
I'm new to backcountry gear but loving it. Just got a new complete dynafit setup with the se7en summits in 178. I'm 47 and have been alpine skiing since I was 7 yrs old. Love deep and steep stuff . This is an excellent ski, but be careful what you want to use it for. It is actually quite stiff and a bit narrow in relation to modern downhill boards. Feels like a light version of a GS ski. The benefits here is the ability to confidently hold an edge on a 45 degree icy pitch and overall extremely light and efficient to tour with. These would be perfect for TRUE ski mountaineering. The downside is less than ideal powder, crud, and soft snow performance. I prefer something a bit more flexy (ala Rossignol Bandit XXX) and will switch over the the Manaslu. Still an excellent board for the right situation.
I have the 178 cm ski with dynafit bindings for my 170 lbs and 6' frame. This ski works great in all but deep powder >14+". Surprisingly good edge hold, better float then expected and punches through the crud. The light weight is very noticeable when climbing. If you have a dedicated fat stick this would be a great peak bagger, hard snow and spring ski.
