With its slow-rise tip, wide waist, and dual-radius sidecut, the revolutionary Dynafit Manaslu makes high-altitude, variable snow conditions feel like groomed resort cruisers. At just 1450g per pair (178cm), the Manaslu won’t slow you down when you’re earning your turns or peak bagging. On the descent, the Manaslu’s soft, 230mm early-rise tip surfs above powder, wind-funk and breakable crust with ease and won’t hook up on you—in other words this ski absolutely kills variable snow conditions. The 95mm waist floats like a butterfly when it’s deep. The dual-radius sidecut and ultra-light wood core help this ski rail long and short turns on anything but the hardest of snow. This ski comes pre-drilled for Dynafit binders, allowing you to mount up the ultimate lightweight backcountry rig at home.

Bottom Line: The Dynafit Manaslu Ski represents a revolutionary design that changes the game for ski mountaineers and dedicated backcountry enthusiasts.

The Manaslu skis do everything! Excellent in all soft and junky snow. They perform really well in wind blown/crust also. I deviated into a bump run on piste and they did fine. These are my go to skis for my job with the Forest Service sampling snow and taking air quality samples in the Wind River Mtns.

Can the Manaslu be fitted with Diamir Fritschi bindings, or do they require Dynafits?

They are predrilled for the dynafits, and if I can remember from my shop/mounting days, I believe the fritschi has a different mounting pattern. You could probably do it if the holes were at least a half centimeter off, but why would you want to put fritschi's on those skis anyway? The beauty of them is that they are so light, and you need to keep that alive with dynafit bindings!

Excellent Backcountry Ski

By:
January 7, 2009

Just had my first day touring the Utah backcountry with the Manaslus. These are excellent touring skis, very light, great turns in deep pow. We also ran into some firm wind blown areas, and the skis worked great.
The set up with Dynafit bindings is perfect for big touring days.

I am trying to figure out what size to get. I am a decent skier, weigh 168 lbs. I am used to skiing a 175 cm, can I get away with a 169 cm.

If you are used to skiing a 175, I would say try the 178. The 169 might feel a little short and you will lose some stability at high speeds.

Manaslu Ski

This ski was purchased to do backcountry skiing in Colorado. I recently used it on a hut trip and was pleased. The ski is very light, but functional. It turns well, is responsive and had good float in 12" of powder. I would recommend it.
