Really like these on my Stokes. They pack down well, are perfectly matched to the ski, and dry quickly. The grip is more than adequate for my needs. I also have Ascensions and find these to be just about the same in terms of grip.

Great glide, light weight and compact.
Grip is on the low end but satisfactory for steep climbing. The tip connector is awesome but the bungee attachment clip (pin) to skin pops off easily. Duct tape over the bar on tip of skin solves this.
Glue is problematic too. They fall off and come unstuck easily and don't stick on the colder days up here in the Selkirks (Canada). Buy a tube of skin glue (gold seal works well) and apply to tip, tail and edges.
These are essential upgrades that transforms them into a light weight state of the art piece of equipment.
With above mentioned modifications 5 stars.
Stoke Speed Skins: Awesome failures

Super light. Easy to pack. Great glide and grip. Fabulous tip and tail (providing you don't lose the tip piece or pull through the tail). Extremely delicate. Avoid rocks, stumps, twigs or anything sharper than a butter knife in order to protect these specialized lightweight climbers. Suspect a problem with the Swiss Q/A. I had gear failure on my first tour of the year on my dream team: Stokes, Titans, TLT Verts and Stoke Speedskins. I took a total surprise Knee-fall on a rather gentle, pristine skin track. It turns out that the rivets on the tailpiece of the Stoke Speedskin cut through the terminal portion of the skin and dumped me off into endless powder 500 ft below the ridge on a -5F day. See attached photo of the failed skins and my new set. Seems like a simple line of stitching around the tail fitting would be a weightless cure. Also notice that all 4 tip pieces are absent a black plastic fitting that was present out of the box. Not sure if Dynafit is intentionally omitting this fitting that prevents the tip-piece bar from being removed or this is simply an oversite. Other users have cautioned about this possibility with the Manaslu skins. Working on a retrofit. I have found the Dynafit website to offer less information than WikiLeak offers about building nuclear reactors.

There is no 'cover' for the tip piece, it's designed to be open. The metal bar of the rubber pull will click in securely to the plastic. If you're really worried, throw some duct tape over the top.

I bought a pair of 191 skins from here. The service is always great.
The skins perform well compared to the BD Ascensions that I used. The Ascensions had zero glide, but I did not expect much for such a wide ski. I Bought Dynafit's Speedskin and the skin was half the foldable size of BD, 4oz lighter, covered more of the ski, and had reasonable glide for their width. Maybe BD's Mohair skins or combo's may be more cost effective and the glue will be better than Dynafit's which I would rate as moderate.
The Speedskin plush gets dented and scraped when crossing branches and rock on the usual backcountry terrain. I question the long term durability. Also I live in the PNW and I'm not sure how effective the glue will be when it gets soaked. I have toured in colder snow and sun warmed snow and the grip on the uphill seems effective to me. The tip attachment is pretty simple to remove the ski once I figured out the best technique to do that. I'm holding on these and cutting down my BD Ascensions for a narrower board.

How do these compare to Black Diamond Ascension Nylon STS?

I just got mine. For use they seem smillar. For longevity, I hope the same, but my BD'd have taken quite the abuse/misuse and come out pretty well. Dynafit has some pretty explicate instructions for the use/storage of these both during the off season, between days, and between runs. I'm likely not to follow any/all of those, So I will post up if these start to fail, noting the areas of maintenance I have neglected.
For the record, I never use skin savers, and my BD's are still pretty tacky after 3 years of pretty heavy use. But you do gotta love the hassle free nature of the pre-cut skins.
Josh> my big area of concern is over the rubber tip piece, it just seems like a weak point in the skin design. I could totally be wrong here.
Greg or Andrew, thought on how well the tip(rubber) attachment will hold up on these skins over time?

The Dynafits are a mohair/nylon mix so they'll have better glide but won't have quite as much grip. Dynafit's glue is not as sticky as BD but should still sufficient for all but the coldest days, you'll want to keep them warmed up in your coat for best performance.
Phil, the rubber tips hardly ever break.
any idea if a 182 will be available?
