Breathable and waterproof pants for backcountry adventures.
Part of the backcountry's allure is that it's always changing, but this same unpredictability can make dialing in your gear difficult. Dynafit designed the Chugach WS Women's Pant to make it easy, though, with a combination of Windstopper 3L fabric and stretch-woven polyester to stop the wind from sapping your heat. While the front of the pant is made from Windstopper, sections of the back are comprised of hardshell that's been treated with a DWR coating to improve water resistance, so you won't get wet if things turn unexpectedly soggy. Dynafit also taped all the seams for improved weather protection and included outer thigh vents to help you stay cool when you're booting up coolies. Articulated knees allow smooth mobility, ankle gaiters keep snow out of your boots, and the adjustable waistband means you can leave the belt at home without worrying about your pants ending up around your ankles.

Not sized for Petite Ladies.
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: XS
I ordered these in a women's XS and they were huge, I sadly sent them back. I'm 5'3'' 108 lbs with a petite athletic build. I wished they fit because they are awesome pants. I ordered the Women's Dynafit Mercury Soft Shell pants in XS and they are perfect.
Dynafit always delivers performance
Not bad pow for October skiing!

How much do u want to ski early season?
Awesome pant but it runs large
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: XS
I have used these pants in the preseason, and they are pretty awesome.
What i like:
1) material is great -lightweight windstopper, abrasion and water resistant exterior, with a very light and soft fleecy lining on the inside. They feel great on bare skin for those warmer days
2) Nice size ventilation zips that run on the outside of the thigh, along with some useful pockets
3) seat is of reinforced material, knees are nice and roomy for movement and the boot gaiters are very effective. The adjustable waist with velcro tabs is really useful and efficient.
4) Mine are the really pretty Fjord color, with lovely contrast zippers.
The only caveat here is that i thought the pants ran a full size larger at least. I received XS, which usually fits me really well in Dynafit (like in the mercury or vulcan shell pants), and these were far larger. I had to get them taken in all around the waist and hips. Size down one full size (unless mine were mis-tagged).

Thank you backcountry.com and Dynafit for selecting me to review these awesome soft shell pants! It's pre season here in Washington and the snow is a little sparse but I did a little backcountry ski touring to amp up my legs and get the season rolling. Not quite cold enough yet so I grabbed my new soft shell Chugach pants along with my new soft shell jacket from dynafit too (see review) these pants have fantastic stretch which make for optimal use when ski touring-a steel pitch won't make you feel like your pants will split at the seems. Knee articulation is perfect for telemark skiing. You can really drop that knee and not feel any restraint. For those steamy climbs you have some ventilation-which is always appreciated.
I love the added protection to the front of the pants for those days where the wind is ripping.
All around a well made pare of pants that are most excellent for ski touring.
I got a pair in black-size med/38. The sizing is perfect. Room for stretch pants. Not baggy but not tight-just perfect. Belt loops along with a little stretch in the waist band. I don't have any hips so I may add a belt if I go without stretch pants-although its not really necessary really.
Now-the insides of the pant-they are like putting in pajamas! A soft fleece lining adds warmth and ultimate comfort to the upper thigh and butt area. Nice for those cols lift rides up. Bottom line:these pants are rad. Buy them now.
