Break trail in this breathable softshell.

Break trail in a hardshell and you'll find yourself cold and wet by the time you're ready to rip skins at the top of your line. Break trail in the Dynafit Women's Chugach WS Jacket and you'll have your skins off and your goggles on while every one else in your group wrestles with extra layers and soggy shells.

The Chugach WS puts a premium on breathability thanks to its Windstopper stretch softshell that shuts out wind but remains plenty breathable to wear on the skintrack. The taped seams, three-layer Windstopper shell, and DWR finish offer adequate protection from everything but the wettest snow storms, while the four-way stretch face and underarm ventilation zips let you lose heat when you're really picking up the pace. When high winds make you re-think your objective, lock the helmet-compatible hood down, cinch the drawcord hem tight, and tighten the hook and loop adjustable cuffs to keep the wind out as you consider plan B. And when a window of clear and sunny weather makes the summit possible, pack the jacket into the hood, throw it in your pack, and move quickly to the summit without the Chugach adding a bunch of weight to your pack.

    • Underarm ventilation zips

    All around awesome

Thank you to backcountry.com and Dynafit for sending me this killer coat just in time for western washingtons soppy wet months. I took this up to the enchantments and was glad to have the protection from the cold windy evening and the onslaught of rain the next day.

This jacket is a soft shell wind stopper with a layer of goodness that blocks out the rain. I love the little added length in the behind area-nice for bending over and not getting an updraft down the backside. Nice syncing on the bottom of the jacket along with a flattering feminin fit that doesn't make you look like a giant square. The color blue is vibrant and compliments my baby blues. But color obviously isn't the selling point. The venting is on the trapezoid not the armpit which at first I was annoyed with cause I love a good put vent. But what I did notice is most pit vent zippers are stiff and kind of uncomfortable so I whined when I said the jacket had no vents...until I actually saw the trap vents. I love these even better. No zippers pressing against the pit and great air circulation for those hard climbs. I took this backpacking but I will be using this jacket for ski touring and its a must to have proper venting. Good sized adjustable hood-tested it with my ski helmet with a nice lip for rain protection. This jacket is the shhhheit and I'm loving it. I'll update my review when I test in the winter but this is a great fall backpacking jacket too. Dynafit has won a new customer!

I'm 5ft 4 130 and I got a small. Good arm length-maybe a wee long for me but the Velcro keeps it from overhanging on my hands. Coat hits a little below my hips and a little longer to the butt in the back. Nice sized collar to block wind and keep warm!!

**also took this up recently to ski. Im always in need of a top of the line soft shell jacket. Unless it's super wet out and miserabl I tent to wear a soft shell for most days skiing. Touring. Slopes. Climbing. You name it-if you have a good soft shell you can use it on basically everything.

      All around awesome
