Well thought out!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Spent a couple of hours fiddling with everything that's supposed to go inside (and outside) and in front of the mirror before I took it out - think I figured it out. Holds everything I need for a day tour in the Wasatch. Shovel is difficult to fit, but I have a Voil with the probe inside the handle, so that worked. Shovel is in the main compartment and it actually creates a nice cavity for stuff.
Ski carry system is awesome! Works with my Voil Insanes, which are fairly wide - field tested. Not sure though how the loop will work with skis with a lot of tail rocker!
Haven't used it for ski mountaineering yet, with crampons, ice axe, and rope but I'm sure that will work too.
Thought I wouldn't use the bottle holder, but it actually is a nice feature: with some snacks in the pocket you're good until it's time for lunch - without taking your pack off.
Mesh pockets for skins are a nice feature - quick and easy to access.
Most importantly, it doesn't interfere with my BD Avalung sling.
Overall a super lightweight pack with all the features you need for a day tour.

This probe holder is too short. Only 32cm . Or my pack is defective ?

At first glance it appears that way but if you open up the back panel and look inside the main compartment there is a small hole that connects the main compartment to the probe sleeve which allows your probe to extend into the main compartment once it reaches the bottom of the probe sleeve. There is also a hole that connects the main compartment to the lower compartment (safety box) which allows your probe to then drop into that compartment. It's a bit of a pain to get the probe in but it will fit.
