Capture crisp, high-definition photos without lugging around your DSLR with the DxO ONE Camera for iPhone. Designed for novices and professional photographers alike, this ultra-portable camera attaches to your iPhone or iPad, instantly transforming your portable device into a high-resolution viewfinder for capturing professional quality photos. It connects via a retractable Lightning connection, making image capture and transfer a seamless process without the use of lagging WiFi connections.

Rivals a DSLR in a Tiny Package

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This camera is great if you're an avid outdoors person or if you need a high-quality camera but don't want to haul around a big DSLR. I've had a chance to take this out on a couple hikes so far and every time the photos blow me away.

For reference, I own both a GoPro and a Sony a6000. The DXO ONE rivals my Sony and blows GoPro out of the water with the quality. Seeing as it's about the same size as a GoPro, I can see this becoming a staple purchase for people who enjoy photography but not the bulk and weight of a typical camera.

I've used the DXO on it's own as well as connected to my iphone, where you can manually adjust settings as you would a DSLR. When connected to the iphone, this thing becomes a tiny powerhouse of photography capabilities. On its own, the DXO captures photos instantly, while still producing extremely high-quality images. The case that the camera comes with can easily hang off a hip belt or pack strap, making it accessible for those moments when you have to get the picture at that exact moment. The photo attached to this review came straight out of the camera with zero editing and shot in auto mode.

Overall, I'm incredibly impressed with such a capable camera in such a tiny package!

Rivals a DSLR in a Tiny Package

    DSLR sidekick and more

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I primarily work with a professional DSLR and I've been searching for a sidekick to my larger camera body for over a year. I wanted something compact and portable but able to produce high quality images and quickly yield social media content portably.
When I first was introduced to the DxO One I didn't consider it as a camera for me. However, after trying out a Sony A6000, Canon G3 and Fujifilm X-T10, and not getting the results that I wanted, I gave the DxO One a try.
With my knowledge of my DSLR and various camera brands and bodies I believed the camera would arrive and I would immediately begin producing great images. This didn't happen. I initially attempted to use the camera on auto modes and found that the results were far below my creative standards. I then transitioned to shooting on some of the preset modes and was still disappointed in what I was producing.
The problem was that I was attempting to treat the DxO One as an extension of my iPhone when truly the phone is an extension for the camera. The first I time I took an image I was pleased with was in an extremely dramatic low light situation. I was walking home from work on a dark street and photographing my street sign with strong backlight. The ISO was through the roof yet the image retained low amounts of noise, thank primarily to the Super RAW function. This was the first time I truly used the camera on Manual Mode in RAW format. I believe this camera performs at its best when being used like this.
The build of the camera is incredible. It's very simple and straightforward and in one evening I was able to gain a solid understanding of 90% of the camera'€™s functions. The few functions that needed more time to understand were explained in detail on the DxO One website. When paired with an iPhone and the DxO One application the boundaries to what can be done are limitless.
The camera weighs next to nothing, I ordered the zipped pouch which I won'€™t leave the house without, it conforms perfectly to the camera while adding no weight or bulk, yet a great protective cover. If you buy this camera don'€™t get one without the zipped pouch. I was stunned at how easily the camera attaches to an iPhone, I also was really taken with the shooting experience when the camera is attached to the phone. I'm so used to a DSLR camera being up to my face that shooting at waste level looking at a screen was a transition, but it'€™s nice to mix things up.
Some of the other accessories I received include the basic Stand, which fits easily to the camera and will attach to any tripod I'€™ve attempted to mount it to. The Stand has performed so well I will be ordering the Micro Tripod soon. The Stand can function as a stand alone tripod on even flat surfaces, I was able to take some exciting low perspective jump photos using it.I also ordered the Outdoor Shell, which reminds me of a mini scuba Steve submarine or hatch. It fits snuggly over the camera, I haven't had an immense amount of time in the water but all of the ports hold up and I have had no moisture or any other types of leeks. I'€™m more of a snow enthusiasts and I can'€™t wait to take this camera and shell into the mountains this winter. Everything I purchased I've been really taken with. I especially would note that their€™s an extreme ease of use and understanding with all these various components, which is something I really value.
The first time I photographed images I was really blown away with on this camera was the first time I took it into its proper habitat. The wilderness. I was out on a semi remote beach, shooting an outgoing tide, with heavy fog and some light rain. One surfer was out and I was able to capture some images of him and the surrounding landscape. The performance of the camera and output of an extremely high quality RAW file allowed me to instantly capture a frame, edit the image and post to social media. All the elements I was looking for in a secondary camera.

    A Game Changing Camera

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The DXO one camera is the smallest camera with the highest quality images I have ever seen and used. It uses an iPhone or iPad through as the image viewer through the lightening port. It fits in your pocket, easily! This camera is one I will use with me on all my trips, all the time, for any reason.

Quick facts for photographers that will blow your mind: 20.2 megapixels, F1.8-F11, ISO 100-51200, 3X zoom, shoots in RAW and SUPER RAW, with a 32mm focal length. Yeah. It’s incredible. Oh, and the camera also shoots incredible video! The specs for video are: 1080p: 30fps, Manual 1080p: 30fps, 720p: 120fps.

Let's talk more about the size. It fits in your pocket, so easily. I had both my phone and the DXO in the same jacket pocket. It's actual dimensions measure 2.7" x 1.9"€ x 1"€ and weighs a mere 3.8 ounces. I have yet to see another camera this small and this powerful.

I have had this camera for about a month now. I have used it for a few hikes, and when looking at the images I was able to capture, I'm really wondering why I would need another big clunky camera lugged around my neck. This camera takes the same quality, or even better images that my DSLR. It does come at a steeper price, when you think of an iPhone attachment camera, but honestly, it's so worth it. It is incredibly cheaper than a DSLR body and then all the varying lenses.

Who would use this camera? I see this camera being used literally by everyone who takes photos with their phone. There is no reason you can'€™t carry this tiny camera in your pocket if your phone fits in your pocket€ or purse. I used it for close up portraits and for wide angle landscapes. It killed it at both. Taking images straight on the iPhone will never be satisfying, knowing that I can just whip the DXO on 1 second and get far superior images. This camera would be so worth the purchase for hiking, backpacking or anything long distance outdoors, eliminating the need for taking a big + heavy DSLR.

The camera is made really well and strong. It has a handful of features that prevent it from breaking, for example: the lightning port that "sticks out" has an added feature that if bumped, it will still not break, rather, just tuck back into the camera. They really thought about the design of this guy. The shape of it is ideal too. It fits in your hand very comfortably as you hold your phone. The camera also has a tilting feature so your phone and camera can be rotated in different planes (up to 60 degrees). The camera comes with a great little case to protect it while it is not in use as well.

The camera, if using it with the iPhone, requires the use of the DXO app (free), in order to see what you are imaging. The app is wonderful, and really user friendly. All the manual settings can be adjusted on the app, or on the back of the camera in the small touch screen. The app works very similarly to what you would see in your regular iPhone camera app, just with a lot more options over exposure control.

Two thumbs up for this little powerhouse!

    A Game Changing Camera

    Small and powerful!!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The DxO one camera is a great extension to your IPhone! It gives you Dslr quality images that are extremely sharp and is small enough to be carried anywhere with you. I was impressed with the sharpness of images as well as how you have so much power out of a small camera. I have used the camera during the day and at night and am continuously impressed with the clarity and sharpness of the images! With the new accessories that have come out, the possibilities are endless! You will not be dissapointed!

    Quick, Easy, Powerful

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

There's a whole lotta' power packed into this tiny little thing. It's super easy to use. Just plug it into your phone and start shooting. It's great for beginners wanting to learn a thing or two about photography. There are a bunch of features that any photography enthusiast will appreciate.

I took it for a spin through the dog park with my girlfriend and got some decent shots without even taking much time to adjust the settings that much.

This is going to be awesome for filming Instagarm skate edits too!

    DxO ONE Camera for iPhone

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Allot of Camera in a very small package. I use this to shoot videos and pictures when climbing and skiing basically any activity where I need something that wont weigh me down. This is about the size of a pack of gum and still shoots like a dslr. I am more of a novice photographer but I love the ability to take very high quality pictures with my phone on the fly. Two thumbs up!
