Description
Go wide.
Double-wide would be an adequate way to explain the Dragon APX Goggle. This goggle sports a lens so large that Dragon's engineers decided to let the lens completely overlap the edges of the goggle frame, and that means ultimate peripheral vision. And because winter often involves sweaty hikes and blinding bluebird days, the lens of this behemoth was finished with a fog-busting internal coating and 100% UV protection—it doesn't get any better.
- Lens is crafted with injection-molded polycarbonate to make it highly resistant to impact and scratches
- Super Anti-Fog lens design uses a moisture-repellent coating to keep sweaty vapors from building up on the inside of the lens
- Uni-directional venting pulls cool air in through the top of the lens and through dual vents in the top of the goggle frame
- Triple-layer face foam and a microfleece lining put a soft layer of padding between your face and the highly durable polyurethane frame
- Numbered lenses installation system uses etched numbers on the frame that line up with numbers etched into the lens so you know exactly how to align the lens to get the fit right the first time
- Hardcase included with goggle

Compared to my old Oakleys these things are amazing. I have such an insanely huge field of view. The blue lens has been great on the cloudy days and even the bluebird days. I have had no issues with them fogging up on really cold days like some people have had.

I'm pretty happy overall with the APX goggle. I bought the knight rider goggle, and the Eclipse lens is sick! The lenses are super easy to change off and on. The only thing I'm disappointed in is these really dont have any greater peripheral vision then other goggles on the market. I have the Dragon DX goggles also and I find the have greater side peripheral vision than the apx. The "frameless" lens creates the illusion that you are going to have this amazing peripheral vision. Still a great goggle, just that for how large they are, I'm disappointed that they weren't designed to be better then the rest of the market for peripheral vision
Almost perfect

They look amazing and they get a lot of attention, which is what I was going for, but they do have drawbacks.
The lens latches into the frame in a way that doesn't feel very secure, and isn't - it's liable to come undone, letting cold air into your goggle, which is bad if there is also moisture, because it will form ice on the inside of the lens.
Also the chrome on the outside is real susceptible to getting scratched up. You have to be pretty paranoid to keep these pristine for long.

Does the rasta/red ion come with the bonus lens like it does from dragon even though it is not listed? The rasta is priced the same as the rest that come with two lenses.........

Recommended Helmet?
I really love these goggles and would love to get a florescent green or bright color helmet to go with these but not sure and don't want to keep buying helmets until i find the right fit i need a size large :) can anyone recommend a good helmet that fits nicely with these.
Thanks

Instead of keep buying helmets, you might want to go to your neighborhood REI or Sports Basement or something and just try them on until you find a good fit.
These fit well with my new Boll helmet, they do not fit well with my old Boeri helmet.
Pretty Sweet

First and foremost, these things look awesome. The lenses are killer, and they dont fog. There have been some complaints about these with regards to fogging, but I have had no issues. However, I did notice that the plastic in the frame seemed kinda cheap. I have had no durability issues, but still, made in china...

Visibility is great when you can actually see out of them! I've had some major problems with these fogging/icing up, I've even had them fog/ice up in between the double lens, which really makes it a b*tch to get down from the top of a mountain on a snowy pow day... Dragon's customer service is lacking as well.. I've sent them two emails asking for advice on this issue and have yet to receive a response after almost a month.. Not impressed at all...

What is so special about an ionized lens and why are they more expensive?

They are mirror tented/reflective, this helps reflect the sun rays coming back at you.

I now own a pair of dragon D2 ionized red mirror goggles and they seem great, but if that is what ionized means, then are all goggles with mirrored lenses ionized?

I just use a rose lens most of the time, I also have a clear one. Usually lights at the slopes don't give that much glare off the snow. The only thing to worry about is seeing the terrain but you should be fine with either of these two.

I would think you'd want a completely transparent lens for night riding, which none of these come with. They do all seem to come with an amber lens, which is good for bright sunny days and I guess it will do for night riding.

These goggles offer a wide field of vision. I wish the strap had a system similar to the IOX. Also fogged a little on the first use. In all fairness I did wear them to hike in for quite a ways and am still happy with them.
