Heavy, Solid Belay
So far used only at the gym given it's winter. Works better with thicker ropes, and it somewhat difficult to hold smaller rope when letting down a climber. Almost need gloves to resist tearing up your hands if you don't shuffle them well. The bug takes heat very well from long routes given the mass is quite high. So far so good, the real test will be New River Gorge.
Went to red river gorge and had a blast using this belay on sport and trad routes. Where it shines is the long rappels from the tall trad routes. The bulky material dissipates heat very well so you don't end up with burns at the bottom. Pair this with a large biner and you've got a rock solid setup.
